I don't know about the decade but as a guy who doesn't like his former works maybe except Seven Swams, i adore this album.

Joanna and sufjan are the best songwriters of our generation, hoom and Carrie & Lowell are the best folk albums in recent memory. I thought tallest man on earth could compete after his first three albums and various EPs but lyrical content has declined since then

Joanna yes Sufjan no. Sufjan is so much more remarkable in how he arranges and puts together his songs/albums. Tallest MAn on Earth has some good stuff but he feels like a borderline novelty act.

Best songwriters in recent memory IMO are Joanna, Bill Callahan, Fiona Apple, Jason Molina, Robin Pecknold and Mark Kozelek.

I thought this was a really nice and universal album, and if it doesn't hit you in the same way it hit me I guess that's fine. It's a shame though.
