This album literally defines the ethos of our generation: crude, post-post modern, and neoconsumerist. Excuse my buzzwords but I'm sorry you plebes just don't understand it yet.

>inb4 NOW IF I FUCKED THIS MODEL
Fight me, you cucks.

The "If I fucked this model" line isn't even that bad. The line that ruins the album is:

>You left your fridge open somebody just took a sandwich

Wolves was the best song on the album, and then that.
>>
>>70212040
I like how you described it but this album really isn't that...
>>
pt2 > Father Stretch My Hands pt1
>>
>>70212096
Thee whole rapped verse on "Wolves" is ass. It should've been kept as a singing track.

Does "Saint Pablo" make anyone else super uncomfortable? Power and I Am a God had some sense of self awareness, but this apple store christianity is bretty fucked

nice job explaining how its crude, post post modern and neoconsumerist in any way that wouldnt just describe half of the popular music coming out right now.

"It's young metro on the track, I don't give a shit" I thought this was the intro to the second song and thought it was a cool, idgaf, nihilistic attitude to the album. But nope, just more random niggra shit about shooting people. sad.

see pic related. That's post-modern.

post post-modern has to involve some sort of return to classical ideas. and just so coincidentally enough TLOP is a gospel record, so there's that.

The Life Of Trash was not good.

1.) Kanye's direction was all over the place...How many times did he change the name of this project and how many times was it pushed back? At least 3 timed I think, This shows that he was indecisive in how he wanted to go about the project. I'd say his life being in the spot light 24/7 and his mental issues caused this.

On the final version of the album a trained ear can even hear the indecisiveness. At some point during the creation of the album, Kanye got into contact with Chance, who more than likely put him on to the whole "gospel influenced hip-hop"...You know, where they sample gospel tracks and use gospel chord progressions? This by itself is good. Kanye did a good job on Father Stretch My Guts.

But on the other hand, Kanye was doing the usual money, cars, hoes, clothes, drugs thing on the non gospel influenced tracks. For an artist like Kanye, this isn't uncommon, as he did it in Graduation, MDBTF, and WTT, but he seemed more caught up in current trends than he usually is.

It seems like Kanye was afraid to push against the grain or do something different...

2.) The album was all over the place...I think he should've stuck with only doing Gospel heavy tracks(they were different/good and its easier to focus on one direction). Instead, he mixed Gospel tracks with the usual hedonism of rap tracks, which could make for a good concept, but he executed poorly. For me, i couldn't find any flow in the album. A good idea would've been to maybe do 5 straight Gospel Influenced tracks, an interlude of some type, then get into the Hedonistic tracks. The interlude could be something of duality and contrast, idk.

3.) If we look at all of Kanye's solo works( not counting WTT), he's ALWAYS gone against the grain of current rap trends...With this project, he was 50/50 on the fence. Remember, he did do some Gospel Influenced tracks, but the other half was the usual shit. Maybe he was scared, maybe he's running out of ideas(not likely)
>>
>>70213939
tl;dr but i appreciate the post.
>>
>>70213939

or maybe he was just in a bad place mentally.

If we analyze his projects since his mothers death around the time of Graduation, it makes sense...He put out depressive music with 808s and Heart Breaks---> God mode with MDBTF---> M̻͙ͅa̷͎̙̻͇͖n̗̫i̶̬̜͓̗ac͕̺̖̤͘ ̟͉͇c̦͞ǫ̯̭k̘̤̰̝̤ḛ̼͖͇̫͜ͅ ̨͖̝̣̩̥ḇ̲̖͚̺̭o͏̥̝̲̫̹y̭͖͕͙͢ͅ with Yeezus---> And probably through mental issues, family/social instability, and drugs, we have a falling star with The Life of Trash
>>
>>70212040
I think 'literal shit' sums it up in a much easier way.

It's used to refer to several schools of philosophy, most of them French. Think Derrida, Foucalt etc. Heavily influenced by Nietzsche and Heidegger.
