If Linkin Park released Meteora today, how popular would it be?
> Meteora was released in March 2003, almost 14 years ago
9.4/10 BNM
6/10 or 5/10 Lyrics today would be really out dated

cause the lyrics are family friendly? How would they modernize lyrics without completely changing song focus?

Nah. They're too angsty but not in a good way. Juvenile way. Linkin Park is a meme thanks to it.

consider:
> hi-hat usage, forced unnatural triplet rapping from mike (or other brave rapping pattern)
> lyrics referencing big bootys, violence, race, and fallen family members
> 128 bpm & synths, chester shines on the hook, sample 8 bars from mike, repeat (radio play song)
> carefully design a 6-10 word lyric that can become a viral meme shared on vine

and that's outdated because young people don't feel angst anymore, right?

It isn't what this generation would listen or listens to. They are much more poppy and softer with songs about angst stuff but hidden. Teens are trying to hide that now. Showing it in screams would be laughed at by teens today. They are much softer and PC friendly
I think it would have a better critical reception today than it did when it was released, it was universally critically panned as a Hybrid Theory knock-off.
Not sure about the rest of the songs, but Numb would still become a hit amongst emo teens if released today
Considering this is not a bad album at all + it's actually much better/more interesting than Hybrid Theory, probably pretty popular.

there's a trend of masking angst with irony, see sadboys or nihilism/crippling depression memes
i suppose TOP are doing a pretty good job of making that acceptable again, because they are pretty direct. they get shit for it by /mu/ for good reasons but everyone else seems to love them
road's paved for nu metal revival, basically
