You hear a lot of beef/diss tracks in hip-hop, but not as many rock songs. NIN's Starfuckers (Manson diss) and Godsmack's- Cryin' Like A Bitch (allegedly a Scott Stapp diss) come to mind. Post alternative rock beef tracks

Jeff Rosenstock used to kill tracks like these back when he was in BtMI

Cut your hair is a music business diss at the very least

Not a diss track per se, but on Trompe le Monde the line "We went to the store and got something great/which samples this song, from Washington state" was a major "fuck you" to Nirvana from Black Francis.

That they completely and totally ripped off the Pixies style, admitted it, and still got massive accolades for it.
>>
>>70073003
Bullshit. Pixies don't have a fucking patent on quiet-loud dynamics you know. And what Kurt did say is that Smells Like Teen Spirit was an attempt at making a Pixies song. They were influenced by a lot of stuff and show it on their sound, Pixies being one of the many influences. Only their dynamics resemble the Pixies (and Nirvana definitely weren't the only ones who borrowed them)
>>
>>70073271
>When I heard the Pixies for the first time, I connected with that band so heavily I should have been in that band — or at least in a Pixies cover band. We used their sense of dynamics, being soft and quiet and then loud and hard.

From the Rolling Stone interview.

You can agree with or not, but that's what the line in the song refers to.
>>
>>70073359
That's what I said. Cobain (and a shit ton of other bands) copped Pixies' sense of dynamics. They got other influences going on too.

It's not alt-rock, but there's Bob Dylan's Positively 4th Street iirc; it was against the folk purists who derided him after he went electric
>>
>>70073003
That's why there's not good rock beefs, it's all petty bullshit as the underlying cause of the beef. Rappers usually shoot each other, fuck the others baby momma etc.
