Since p4k has gone to shit, what are some better music news/review websites?
Preferably unbias websites

p4k has always been shit. use your brains and form your opinions
>>69991928
I cant believe I used to be a tripfag
>>69991862
Sputnikmusic is the best
>>69991928
oh man, it's still a good way to find out who released new stuff and what's popular with kids these days
>>69991862
I honestly don't think there are any good music media publications anymore.
Pitchfork is okay, etc, but I think journalism in general has reached a nadir. Partly because it's all so based in pointless politics now which have reached an impasse, plus people have learned how to dig up the music for themselves and they don't really need some critic telling them that they should be experiencing it framed in some socio-political context or that it's better music because it supposedly props up some social narrative
>>69992003
you can just follow bands/labels on twitter/fb for that
>>69992042
personally i just wanna know what my favorite artists are up to -- you cant get all that with just twitter, and p4k was kinda decent with that
i just cant use pitchfork anymore because of the blatant diversity/rap culture shilling that I dont care about
>>69992042
>pointless politics
yeah pitchfork is pretty preachy and predictable when it comes to what spin they pull on the cultural relevance of a record, but what music honestly exists outside of any political environment?
i don't mind tiny mixtapes too much (apart from their journalist wank half of the time) but their general suggestions are more akin to what p4k was doing with indie in the 90s but with zeitgeist creators now
idk
maybe so maybe no
>>69992098
these + wire
>>69992117
>but what music honestly exists outside of any political environment?
ambient
>>69992217
I'm looking forward to 2020's Trans-ambient scene and being told the music "isn't made for me"
>>69992190
the wire sucks, stop trying to make them relevant.

Hey Wire creator, quit shilling your no name blog here
>>69992244

i've never liked p4k, but they are not the personification of evil/bad music reviewing either
reading p4k makes shitposting seem like an educational activity
>>69993490
I didn't read the thread.

>>69991928
only good post a tripfag has ever made.
>>69992003
tinymixtapes
>>69991862

This
I have always despised that awful excuse for a music site
>>69991862
Sputnikmusic
>>69991862
>unbiased
>review
you realize this shit is all opinions right? Bias is pretty much the point of reviewing
>>69996501
>Bias is pretty much the point of reviewing
>having never heard of scaruffi
>>69992240
why do you care what gets posted to a mongolian totem pole forum
>>69996501
>>69996558
Do you realize what musicians have to go through in the first place to even get to the point of being reviewed or interviewed?
>>69996801
music orgy?
>>69996576
>getting triggered that no one cares about the wire.
>>69996816
Sucking off publicists, managers, PR people, journalists, reviewers etc.
You don't get anywhere without doing any of the following. Musicians get the raw deal, and they have to put up with all of this shit in order to get anywhere.
>>69996835
i don't care about magazines at all but getting flustered about that kind of thing is weird and controlling
>>69992098
remove the needle drop and pidgeons and planes and you're set
>>69997015
>keep pitchfork
but yea, p&p have really sucked recently, their aoty list was complete fucking joke.
>>69996962
Because their a noname web-zine spamming their shit here
Hate towards pitchfork is not new, and at this point its factored in to their success. You're doing a great job at this game.
>>69997327
>its not even a print magazine
holy kek
>>69997391
Huh?
Tinymixtapes. The text reviews are usually pretentious nonsense but 1) They don't give a fuck and do what they want 2) They usually point to interesting stuff
Give a run through of one of their year end lists. Nice variety. Definitely on the underground pulse.
>>69997482
TMT is great. Better than Pitchfork and blows mainstream garbage like Wire and Rolling Stone out of the water.
>>69997482
>not reading the thread before posting
good job.
>>69997520
I think I responded adequately.
>>69997436
i think he was laughing with you for pretending the wire isn't a print magazine
>>69995666
Nice trips, fag
>>69997663
>>69997436
oh I just assumed it really was web-only cause of how much shilling it needs on /mu/
>>69997965
>shilling
I really doubt anyone from the wire is actually shilling here. They've literally been around since the early 1980s and tends to cover more avant-garde and underground music and art. It's a print magazine that is a pretty big deal in the music world over here in the UK and is sold in most record shops and news agents and I know they sell it at Barnes and Nobles stores in America. Simon Reynolds is probably their most prominent full-time writer (he's written several popular and acclaimed books about the post-punk, glam, and 90s rave music scenes) and big names like Brian Eno, Lee Ranaldo, and Robert Fripp have frequently contributed to the magazine in the past.
>>69998129
Lotta loyalty for an unhired anon
>>69998129
Sure they have. Smells like bullshit to me. I've never even heard of them outside of /mu/ much less seen a physical copy of their so-called "magazine"
