The importance of lyrics are a meme when everyone talks about how amazingly "deep" they are on certain albums or when talking about certain artists. But they're still important.

Especially in pop when the lyrics are easily heard and understood and there's not much subtlety or nuance.

Lyrically, Emotion can basically be summarized almost literally as, "I want to have sex with you / let's have sex / I wish you stayed so we could have sex / I'm not here to not have sex / remember when we had sex?", which I think is a shame because otherwise it's not your typical vapid pop album.
