Ok, so I've listened to every SY album from their first all the way up to Goo and the highest score I've given to one is 6.5. Will the subsequent albums be any better for me, or should I just stop trying to get into the band?

Skip ahead to their 00s output where they start to write actual songs. If you don't like albums like Sonic Nurse or Rather Ripped then yeah, you're pretty much done. Not much between Goo and Murray Street that'll change your mind.
