I was thinking of going super crisp with the vocals. I'm not ridiculously well versed in shoegaze (I know/actively listen to MBV, Candy Claws, and that Wild Ivy album I mentioned earlier), so I don't know if that is done a lot as a contrast to the effect-laden guitars. Any advice regarding that, like what artists to take influence from, or something of that nature?

I would take influence from artists like Blank Banshee or Sweet Trip really if you're going to go with the sound you're going with right now, in that if you do vocals, try to make them sound as if they're sampled from something or sound like nothing you've ever heard before, like for example My Machine by Blank Banshee which comes to mind first for whatever reason.
