Why is the new A tribe called Quest so acclaimed and pic related

never listened to their last albums. i mean De La and ATCQ both.

i always thought Tribe was better. until i heard De La Soul Is Dead.

Weird I forgot this even came out. I don't follow rap though.

yeah bros Im not saying ATCQ album is not great. It is an their discography too. I just preffer De La Soul based on my tastes and Im surprised that they new album is completely forgotten meanwhile ATCQ is in the top 10 2016 lists.

De la soul became pretty stale to me after a few listens, while I'm enjoying ATCQ more and more with each listen.

I don't think it was better.
It has some really just beautiful songs though, Greyhounds, Memory of Us, and Pain are all fantastic.
I think one part is that Phife died, and I think De La is just less well-known in general
