What does /mu/ think of visual kei? For those of you who have

Dir en Grey is really fucking solid.

Classic stuff is great but the modern stuff is nothing more than copies l-arc en ceil
and worst you have western visual kei who sem to be copies of copies.

It's really a great band, they started off as a Kuroyume copy band, but eventually got their own sound going on.
I think their best works are Macabre and Uroboros, with Gauze being a guilty pleasure (it's really not that great, but it has a lot of nostalgic value to me).

Modern bands still copy L'arc-en-Ciel? I thought modern bands copied Gazzette (which in turn are a copy of Dir en grey, who started being a copy of Kuroyume).

Yokan is really not that great of a song, but fuck, I LOVE it.

I think they're more strictly goth rock, but visual kei and goth have a lot of connections.

Not sure about Auto-Mod, but Speed-ID (one of the most prolific japanese goth bands) has Euro as vocalist and leader, and he was the president of the legendary indies VK label Key Party during the 90s.
