Makes you think.

Doesn't help that they also made 3 10/10s in their solo careers

That's about four OP

The Beach Boys have one 10/10 album and a collection of ideas that could have been a 10/10 album

Don't give them too much credit

Thats three 10s m8, four if you include Smile.

If Pet Sounds isn't a 10 then nothing the Beatles did is.

Smile is 10/10.

The Beatles have good songs but no 10/10 albums

The only one in contention there is Wild Honey and thats just a personal 10.

Surf's Up is the only album by either band that even approaches 10/10

SGP is 10/10 though and better than pet sounds

pet sounds and a hard day's night are the only real 10/10 albums by either band, revolver (too much george) and rubber soul come real close though. you could easily make a 10/10 album out of the best beach boys songs 63-65 though

Even going by the low standards of 10/10 people here have, The Beach Boys have 1 and The Beatles have 2...it's not that big a difference...in fact, with all the resources they had, that The Beatles only had one more than a fucking bunch of teenagers in their dad's bedroom is pathetic

>Why are there age limits? Why can’t I marry a 12-year-old? The fact that so many Americans still believe it should be illegal to marry a 12-year-old only tells you how far America still is from becoming a serious culture. The Europeans have long recognized that the greatest relationships of all times are between male adults and female adolescents, who are the most biologically fit to produce offspring, as well as the most physically attractive. Followers of the Muslim faith rank the highly controversial Aisha over all of their prophet Mohammed’s other wives, who were far past the prime age for reproduction. Americans are still blinded by puritan values. Adult females are more mentally developed than adolescents (not true, by the way), therefore they must be the greatest partners. Europeans engaged in relationships with adolescent European girls in the middle ages, radical Islamists engage in relationships with adolescent Muslim girls in the present. Americans are often totally ignorant of the virtues of relationships with adolescent girls, they barely know the biological benefits. No wonder they will think that sexual relations with 12-year-old girls should be criminalized.

>Dreaming of the day people will stop promoting the White Album

its 2 albums, half of which is 10/10 and the other half closer to a 3/10. Based on this I'd give it a solid 13/20 or 6.5/10
>>
>>69822469
>the other half closer to a 3/10
Why?
>>
Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), Today!, Pet Sounds, SMiLE, Smiley Smile, Wild Honey, Sunflower, and Surf's up are all GREAT.

Maybe even throw in Friends and Love You, but a bunch of others are GOOD as well.
>>
The only reason people here like the Beach Boys is Brian Wilson is an autistic dipshit and anons can identify with him and think they can make a mediocre pop album that will vastly overrated in 40 years
>>
>>69822492

I meant this as half of all the songs collectively btw, not that the second half of the album is the 3/10. I see sides 1 and 4 as the weaker points of the album. Revo 9 (edgy version of revolution and 1), Wild Honey Pie (please keep experimenting till you find something that actually works, not just leave it at experimental for the sake of "interest" or "variety"...), Ob la di (kill me now), Everybody's got something to hide (great instrumentals, shit lyrics filled with lame platitudes and turns of phrase), Good Night (Ringo doesn't ahve the voice for ballads, I'd rather he narrate a short bedtime story for the last track) Glass Onion (self-referential for the sake of John's ego and made with the purpose of annoying fans and stirring Beatlemania controversy)

Just my opinions though, again, most of the rest is stellar. I just don't like how people ignore so many poor songs on the album that gets the most love.

>Revo 9 (edgy version of revolution and 1)
It isn't. They are totally separate entities. one is a song, the other is a sound collage.
>Wild Honey Pie
This is a link track between to proper songs. No problem here
>Ob la di
Excellent pop song
>Everybody's got something to hide
What's wrong with the lyrics? other than "I don't understand them so it's shit!"
>Good Night
A fantastic closer, a soothing lullaby with a soaring melody
>Glass Onion made with the purpose of
[citation needed]

>Just my opinions though
>If it's experimental, it's scary and bad!
pls
>>
>>69822518
Smile is a crappy, disorganized, borderline unlistenable mess and no amount of shilling will convince me otherwise.
>>
>>69822925

Where did I say experimental is scary and bad? I'm pretty sure I said that adding it as linking tracks to break up an album of songs that consist of genres that a band has traditionally written in such as pop, blues, rock, etc is a technique I don't particularly care for. I listen to Bela Bartok, Philip Glass, Nick Cave, John Cage, often. All of them are experimental (and sometimes scary I suppose...) but that doesn't make it bad.

>differing opinion so return comment with disdain/contempt rather than consider the opinion and ponder on it. This isn't an argument, it was just an anonymous opinion in a discussion. Stop getting so frustrated, you're not the Beatles promotional director.
pls

Lastly, what point of my Everybody's Got Something to Hide comment didn't you get? How does thinking the lyrics are shallow platitudes that the Beatles had already delved into numerous times in the past equal not understanding them?
