why is 'The Doors' all about Jim Morrison when the other members are so obviously talented?
like, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say 'Robby Krieger is my favourite guitarist'
Because Jim was the one with all the swag and most fun to talk about.
They had a great fucking drummer too

If they were so talented why they made shit albums without Jim? LA Women was fucking great.
Ray Manzarek is the most talented member of the doors and one of the most talented keyboardists in popular music.

None of the members of the doors had incredible instrument technique. Jim is the only one where praising him makes sense because he was the first white guy to be a psychedelic sex god
Also his voice is incredibly distinctive

they were a team, I don't think Jim would be so successfull without them either

>None of the members of the doors had incredible instrument technique
what about Manzarek?
The dying young effect. Same reason no one remembers Dave Grohl was in Nirvana and only mention Kurt.

the albums without Jim aren't shit. they just didn't have another talented singer in the band. some of the songs on those albums are great but with not so good vocals
>>69807587
your argument is very flawed, Slash is an icon and he's alive, just one example
>>69807522
This is just not true. Manzarek was amazing, so where Jim's lyrics. The rest where also very very good artists, certainly way above the average.
Also I don't recall that many big bands where all members where gods playing their instruments.

Nah Ray's the best one
Did Jim even play any instruments?
>>69807598
but if I had to guess, I would say Robbie had the next best voice

he sometimes played harmonica
>>69807576
Sure Manzarek was amazing at keyboards and also helped write most of their songs so he's definitely one of the most "important" rock musicians who played piano/organ. But his keyboard technique alone could be matched both by countless rock icons (Billy Joel, Keith Emerson) and countless session musicians (Billy Preston, Allen Toussaint)

Krieger is a classical guitar virtuoso
>>69807512
i agree imagine the doors without him
>>69807468
because he was the most attractive

Jim Morrison ruins it for me. I like the band, but his vocals make me cringe.
