Acceptable answer. Would it be fair to say that Lifestyle is this era's Crank That?

Rakim's Paid in Full

so we can assume he's dropping cash off at his mamas crib, but shes still living in an apartment and washing dishes by hand? damn, homie went and got a plane, a car, and chains either fake (prolly) or worth more than my car and then dropped some cash off fuck him and his bad pop mumble rap

Awesome song but I'd say Grandmaster Flash's The Message is a better choice for influence; all conscious rap tracks owe themselves to it
rap is shit
I feel like I understand the point you're making but this is the song you are looking for:

It was one of the first major songs to introduce people to codeine syrup, Houston rap and the screwed and chopped sound. Southern dudes were drinking lean since the 90's, but this was the track that got the entire east/west coast rap scene wondering what sipping lean was. The influence which this ended up having on the game was absolutely tremendous. Everything from guys like Future to all of the up and coming mumble drug addict rappers exists because of certain elements of H-town culture which were largely introduced by this track.

wow now I see where riffraff jacked his flow from
I'm not even a huge fan of Eminem but objectively, this. It represented a complete paradigm shift for the entire genre of hip-hop and kicked off arguably the biggest career in hip-hop history, which in turn led to the entire G-Unit/early 2000s gangsta rap era, Beats by Dre, Straight Outta Compton (the movie), Kendrick Lamar etc. It's quite possible none of that would have happened without this track. Without this single, SSLP would have likely been a run of the mill rap record which sells reasonably well but fails to make any significant noise within the rap game. If that had happened, Eminem probably would have turned into another literally who white rapper like Cage or something and Aftermath would have likely collapsed, ending the career of Dr Dre.

Because the line
"Got a light-skinned friend look like Michael Jackson/Got a dark-skinned friend look like Michael Jackson"
Pretty much single-handedly launched one of the most important careers in hip-hop history and the entire concept of mainstream "backpack rap", which paved the way for virtually every current single rapper who isn't a gangster. Kanye himself has even said that as soon as he wrote that line down, he knew he was going to be a big star. It turned out to be the defining line of the highest charting single of the album.
