I honestly don't know senpai and they were my first favorite band. I would say Iowa is best only because imo it gaves a better display of what they accomplish as a band. S/t was more diverse, and fun, but it feels, maybe more an agressive mix of all their influences, while in IOWA I think they manage to twist (even more agressively) their sound and scrap the more "experimental" or "diverse" musical aspects, I think this was the better representation or outpot of what Slikpnot aimed aesthetically.

Funnily enough, Immolation (the OP band) actually has used a clean logo for their last 7 albums.
They could pretty much afford to have one since they were already a wellknown band.

The point of the "crazy" logos though is so the band can stand out, and to fit the music better.
If all these bands with super heavy music, and super dark/edgy covers just had plain text on their album front, it'd be a bit jarring. Only a few bands can pull it off properly.

Why is revival Thrash the single worst thing to happen to metal? It's derivative garbage that holds no value and doesn't evolve the sound at all, Revocation are an exception but they're barely thrash at all.

Tbh it's all shits and giggles. I think it just started to reflect the "brutal" nature of the music but these days most bands do it for a laugh. Plus if it's well designed it'll look sick on a T-shirt/cap and will sell really well.
