Well abstract visual art of the early 20th century also had its counterpart in music - it's when composers started making more and more abstract music to the point where it was literally bashing two things together, random screams and terrifying sounds and other non-coherent sounds mixed together. Same as in visual arts some artists just started splashing random colors and objects onto canvas.
So yeah, that sounds like "post-music" to me.

It originally became popular through dance parties in the gay scene. I don't dislike it for that reason, in fact I don't dislike it at all, its just made for the kind of mood you get at a gay dance party which is not something I really relate to. Obviously there is a bit more universal appeal than that since it became quite popular, but its fair to say it has a 'homosexual' sort of a sound, energetic, fun, flamboyant and so on.
That song isn't all that ambient though is it, it is closer to conventional music than most of his work that I have heard.
Bootgaze
Groove metal + shoegaze
>>69690580
so you don't listen to no rock since that became popular through black musicians right?
>>69690580
>originally became popular through
there's the problem. An entire musical genre isn't bound to it's billboard canon. Plenty of disco matches that description but it's silly to label. You could say the same thing about industrial or glam rock.
I agree that song isn't too ambient, but minimalist, stripped back and subtle music doesn't make it noise. There is noisy ambient just like there is melodic ambient. You must be on the autism spectrum or something if you keep grouping things together to dismiss for ridiculous reasons. What do you normally listen to then that isn't plagued with some sort of ridiculous stereotype by people unfamiliar with the genre?

I can listen to delta blues because it has a sound which resonates with me, even though I don't directly relate to the things they sing about some of the time. I might listen to queen or some other homosexual artists for the same reason. The fact that disco has gay roots is not the reason I don't listen to it, its the mood it creates which I feel no association with. Just so happens that the best way to describe it is that it is homosexual music.
