It's not that bad. I used to think it was juvenile trash with terrible writing too. But after watching some Seth Mcfarlane interviews I have a better understanding where he's coming from with the gags on the show. It definitely has its moments. The episode where Stewie and Brian get locked in a vault comes to mind for example. Also interesting if you consider that entire episode is basically Mcfarlane talking to himself.
