>mfw a normalfag asks me what music I listen to
How do I deal with it? Its happened a few times now and I have a compete social meltdown.
Anyone else experience this?
>inb4 just tell the truth
Its not that easy
just say Radiohead
>people talk to you
You're a filthy fucking pleb, get off my board and take your toad memes with you
>>69663214
use psychoanalysis and name artist you think they listen too
>>69663214
Usually just say downtempo and mention Boards of Canada and then they usually just change the conversation
1. Aotysf
2. Most recent acquisition
3. Most anticipated acquisition
I just say Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean
>>69663214
Back to plebbit
>>69663214
>Its not that easy
It is that easy. Neutral Milk Hotel and Radiohead aren't obscure.
>>69663214
Just say genres nigga, say rock, blues or whatever.
>>69663214
indie
I never know what to say. Usually I just default to the surface indie bands that I like. So Arcade Fire, TV on the Radio, The Strokes, Radiohead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, etc.
got asked that recently by a qt
our mutual friend laughed and she asked "why'd she laugh"
I said "let's leave it at that" and that was it
>implying op isnt a normie
I just say I don't listen to music. If I become pals with them, then I reveal my true (shit) taste.
>do you listen to the weeknd?
>no
>oh so what do you listen to? like metal or punk or something?
fuck living in toronto sometimes
>>69663214
>Oh, just a lil' bit of everything. You?
>I love listening to [Insert artist or genre here]
>Say: Oh I love [artist!] even if it's a lie. Normies hate disagreement.
>>69663521
>Normies hate disagreement
you people have zero self-awareness
>>69663248
I do that too, just change BoA to Bonobo and 90% people say "yeah, bonobo is nice". End of conversation
>>69663259
The vast majority of normies don't know what NMH is. You spend too much time on /mu/ if you think normies know about it.
>/mu/core
>p4kcore
>not "normal"
You're all so fucking delusional and pathetic and embarrassing. It's hilarious.
>>69663214
>>inb4 just tell the truth
>Its not that easy
it is, just don't be autistic about it.
bad example:
>"Oh yeah I love 12-tone serialism and spectralism and minimalism like [insert lesser-known composers here], and also free jazz and spiritual jazz and experimental underground indie rock and--" (by this point everyone is no longer paying attention to you)
good example:
>"Yeah I'm pretty into classical and jazz. One of my favorite composers right now is Arnold Schoenberg. How about you?"
pop quiz
1. what's a normie
2. why aren't you a normie
well-written responses only
>>69663834
>classical and jazz LOL are you a grandpa or something?
>>69663920
social dynamics are real
>>69663881
1. You apparently
2. People who aren't clones
>>69663316
so patrician
>>69663944
clones of what
and what makes my supposed normie status "apparent"
>>69663983
normies get out
"bands that sound made up but I swear are real"
>>69663993
inarticulate /r9k/clones get out
>>69664040
>knows what /r9k/ is
>doesn't know what a normie is
haha im laffin
>>69663920
>said no one ever
>>69664075
>implying i didn't ask on a personal basis in the first place
>implying you'd explain yourself regardless if it was a universal term or not
"haha im laffin"
>>69663591
It really depends where you live
>>69664137
">implying i didn't ask on a personal basis in the first place
>implying you'd explain yourself regardless if it was a universal term or not
"haha im laffin" "
haha I'm laffin
>oh you know, harsh noise, lowercase, sonorism, field recordings of larvae at dangerously high dB...just you're average stuff I guess
>>69663881
1. Social butterflies, typically engaged with pop culture and focused on materialism and social, physical and mental appearance.
2. I'm not (1.)
Arctic monkeys
>>69663214
techno interests me
oh whatever comes on the radio
It's funny because i always wanna answer "all types of music, i don't have a favorite genre" which is ultimately true but it's such a normie answer that usually means "i don't know anything about music so i kinda just listen to what's on the radio" that i don't say it
I fucking hate these threads. It's not even hard to say what kinda music you like. tap into your less autistic tendencies and try to mention accessible artists. indie rock and electronic music are a lot more mainstream nowadays so unless all you listen to is obscure free jazz and other pretentious shit that /mu/ tells you to like, you'll be fine
>>69663881
You don't know what normal means?
1. Someone who is considered normal. As in, in the norm. They have a standard personality, their life path is usual and their goals are standard.
2. I'm smaller than most people. Therefore I'm not in the norm.
>>69664711
That's a shitty tip dude.
>>69663653
This. You all sit around and listen to Kanye West, and Radiohead, and Carly Rae Jepsen, and act like that makes you weird. It's pathetic.
>>69663591
It was literally on Parks and Rec
I tell them I only listen to national socialist black metal
>>69664874
>mentioned once on parks and rec
>therefore every normie knows about it when you name drop it
>implying any of the above would diminish the quality of music
"no"
>>69664862
i would consider it weird to listen to carly rae jepsen if you're not a 13 year old girl.
