He does use a lot of polyrhytms but usually over a 4/4 base. I can't think of any tracks of his that are straight up in like 7/8 or 5/4 or something.

A lot of what's been recommended is IDM which is I like but it all sounds really cold and machine like. Anyone got any electronic weird time signatures with a warmer sound, i.e. focus on harmony as well as rhythm?

I know a jazz track which does something like that, it's in 7/8 when the piano comes in but then they add an odd number of 16th notes at the end of one of the bars and it throws me off every time.

this is by design, though. the majority of electronic music is EDM of some kind, empasis on "Dance." as such, it needs to mix with the tracks that precede and follow it. even if you match the BPMs perfectly--the drums line up--if the time signature is different, the mix will sound off because the measures don't line up.

but also just most rock, pop, blues, folk songs are in common time. people just like common time, mostly.
