Blue Guitar is spotty as fuck, half of it is filler.

That said, yes RHP are probably the best rock band lineup of the 90s. Down Colorful Hill and Rollercoaster are the best one-two-punch ever in my book.

It's just the covers that hurt the album, but it's still pretty great. Have You Forgotten, Song for a Blue Guitar and All Mixed Up are some of the best songs Mark has ever penned.

All Mixed Up is a cover.
The country arrangement on Song for a Blue Guitar doesn't work at all and only hurts the song.
Have You Forgotten, Make Like Paper, Trailways, Revelation Big Sur, Another Song are all fucking great though. I still think it's the worst album released under the RHP moniker.

Codeine is great but their one of those bands that played the same song again and again for all of their career. They can't touch Marky Mark Kozelek and his 300 chambers of nuanced depression.

I wish they experimented more with their sound and diversified the instrumentation a bit before they broke up. White Birch is good but it's really just Frigid Stars with better recording quality.
