Rap genre is the best example of that. Listening to rap is like watching a wizard of oz as a kid, you love going to adventures to a fantastical world, even though you can't IRL, you do it anyway, because it feels good. Same with Rap. I'm a white British guy from a middle class family I don't have any experience with mafia or cowboys or New York gang life. It's a cool different side of the world that I can experience through hip hop.
