My honest theory is that the song is about a vague sense of not abandoning the truth for something that is a temporary high. I see the wig on thing as referring to someone who is trans, essentially saying that transitioning or maybe dating someone who is transitioning is a poor choice because it is running from the truth that they are another man. I don't necessarily agree with the track with the reading like this, but I think it's an interesting way to get that idea across.
