Why isn't Desire more widely revered as one of Dylan's best albums?
So many incredible songs on there and Dylan's voice is basically at the absolute best it ever was.
Also Sara is his best song.
It's generally considered the last of album of his before his artistic downfall of the late 70s to mid 90s and is overshadowed by Blood on the Tracks.
A good chunk of his fans didn't respect Dylan anymore after he "went electric", and he pretty much stopped having hits after Tangled Up in Blue
Desire's a great album, but Bob Dylan's 70's & 80's are David Bowie's 90's

m8, you need to know more of your history. Dylan gained far more fans after he went electric than he lost. Desire was Dylan's second chart topping album, Planet Waves was his first.

The enthusiasm for Dylan's releases dulled after Blonde on Blonde, save for the occasional hit like Knockin on Heaven's Door

did you even read his last sentence?

Again, read up on your Dylan history if you're going to be talking about him like you're an expert. John Wesley Harding was the best selling Dylan album at the time of its release. There was only more pent up interest about Dylan after his car-crash and his attempt to escape the public view. It wasn't until Self-Portrait that people's reverence in him began to wane and even then, he still sold well, with the album reaching number 1 in the UK.
Joey sucks
Or to put it another way, Blonde on Blonde reached #9 on Billboard, John Wesley Harding reached #2.
