Why though? I mean yeah when you have someone that can play good it sounds great but it seems really hard. I tried to play it again in recent years and I still can't do it. It's weird not being able to pick up an instrument and play it. Anyway, maybe try the flute? I wonder if it works similarly to the recorder.

It's easy to play, but hard to master. There's a reason they teach it to little kids.

That said if you are serious there is a lot of great renaissance music written for (tenor) recorder - Holbourne comes to mind.

yes, from third grade music class. with every song you mastered you got a length of colored yarn to tie around the end, like a karate belt. i only have three yarns around mine but i distinctly remember all the other kids maxxing out their yarns. i didn't have the patience to learn recorder, and now i'm paying the price for it
