I haven't heard anything about it; what do you recommend?

一十三十一 - The Memory Hotel
It's a new wave of musicians from japan and other places making 80's influenced music from the genre called City-Pop, which mixes 80's funk, jazz fusion and j-pop, it was pretty popular with artists like Tatsuro Yamashita, Momoko Kikuchi, Yoshino Fujimal, Toshiki Kadomatsu & Makoto Matsushita.

Max Headroom - Hanami

Thanks dude, I'll take a listening.
good shit
sounds pretty neat
>a genre noticed and being revived exclusively by bored teens on RYM
I'm not sure.
I like it.
Vaporwave is way too memed and 90% of it is ironically terrible remixes of 80s pop. This is actually good shit and seems to be mostly original compositions.

Your obsession with image, whether it be your own or the image focus of RYM avant teens, is going to be a severe limiter of your enjoyment of music.
There's been a few cool microfibres started on this board, of all places, but because people like you were so tunnel-vision focused on it having been started and made by people on here for fun instead of in some studio dungeon in Bergen, they crashed and burned and nobody was better for it.

not vaporwave.
if anything it's a retro wave subgenre.
Less macintosh plus, more Carpenter Brut, Pertubator, etc.

isn't it a bunch of vaporwave kids trying to rip off japanese pop?
>>69320993
citypop is a subgenre of jpop and has been around for a long time.
hence "Revival".
this is like saying king gizzard is trying to rip off the beach boys.

so its a bunch of vaporwave kids ripping off a subgenre of japanese pop?
