this is actually the song that got me into hip hop again. I used to listen to rap when I was 16 or so, but slowly turned to punk and metal and that kinda stuff. Catchin' the Vibe got me again hooked into whole rap thing and I started look into it, and today I mostly listen to hip hop.

I've never seen anyone online say Further Adventures is Quas' best album. I mean, Unseen is fantastic but it's got fucking nothing on Further Adventures, obviously

every time i listen to further adventures it just makes me want to listen to the unseen, what am i missing?

Same as me my man. You're not missing anything, both are great. The Unseen is a much better collection of tracks

Unseen has a classic sound, but I can get the same vibe from other albums. I think Further Adventures stands on its own creatively, so it left a bigger impression on me. It opens with the Vincent Price cackle from "Thriller", which leads into a jazz loop that sounds like a demented circus. Already I love it. There's the interplay between Quasimoto's lyrics and samples of dialogue. There's an amusing obsession with Melvin Van Peeble samples all over the record. There's the most warped song structure I've ever heard in "Players of the Game". There's the social despair of "Bus Ride", the comfiness of "Bartender Say" and the chorus of "Closer" ... yeah, so many things I love about that album

it really is. i think the one thing that puts people off about that album are the really, REALLY extended sampled dialogue sections, but once you get past that, you get one of the most creative, varied, and well-produced hip hop albums of all time. the only thing about it is that he reuses some samples from the unseen and madvillainy lmao
