Why? They're so out of place and have no relationship whatsoever with the rest of the music.
You can literally hear Mingus cutting the track with the orchestra for that shitty guitar solo that sounds like any other classical guitar solo I've ever heard.

It would be like, I don't know, John Coltrane stopping the entire quartet for a theremin solo.

Those guitars totally make the album imo. Like a window opens up somewhere and the hot cuban air rushes in and you can picture dancers twirling and people talking and shit and when the band comes back in, you still have that image lingering in your mind and it flavors the rest of the music with this blistering spanish edge. Such a tasteful addition, the music wouldn't be the same without it.

not OP but i also don't like the guitar parts. i'll admit i don't know shit about jazz and that i should probably aim for a better understanding of Mingus' work in order to "earn" the right of being critical of what he does, so i won't do that: i just don't like it, which i think is something common; we like some stuff and dislike other things.

however you don't really help that much honestly, and if knowing what Mingus is doing implies exaggerated reactions like "you're fucking stupid" or saying "he put it in there because he wanted it there" i really don't know what the extra knowledge is for. maybe you could try explaining why it's essential to the piece like >>69223927 does instead of acting superior?
