Listen to Herbie Hancock. You'll change your mind. Trust me.
Look up Bobby Hutcherson. RIP
There's endless piano and trumpet solos too.
A lot of people only pretend to like it.

... Wes Montgomery you utter utter plebian.
>>69138232
it's creative - it's human
it's musical self expression where the musicians themselves are in the spotlight - not one composer, arranger, singer or other star (exceptions exist)
just think of it as the style of music where each musician has the chance to express themselves together with others and as soloists. it's beautiful.

But most of his stuff isn't that guitar heavy
>>69138542

>Ray Charles

Bruh...Are you even trying?
>>69138879
Sorry. That stuff always gets cheesy af
>>69138930
But it doesn't! What have you been listening to, Glenn Miller? Wartime and big band can be very cheesy (as can the glacial 'ultramodern' stuff), but bop, postbop, modal and free is totally the opposite. Do yourself a favour and listen to Live-Evil by Miles or Speak No Evil by Wayne Shorter... that shit is terrifying.

>cheesy
>an insult
Nah man. That's not always a bad thing

>Miles Davis album with Coltrane
>No Saxophone solos
I think it helps to actually play jazz. Even back in the day it has a small audience of mostly musicians.
For some reason this reminded me of that Fear song - "New York's alright if you like saxophones"
Maybe you should listen to Fear instead OP
