You know what, I just remembered I actually posted a guide on another thread, basically just choose which genre you like best and listen to the album that's listed for it.
Baroque/Novelty: Self Titled
Folk and Orchestral Psychedelic: Space Oddity
Metal/Hard Rock: Man Who Sold the World
Glam Rock: Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane
Funk & Soul: Diamond Dogs, Station to Station Young Americans
Ambient: Low and "Heroes"
World: Lodger
New Wave: Scary Monsters
Pop Rock: Let's Dance and Never Let Me Down
Reggae: Tonight
Electro/Hip Hop: Black Tie White Noise and Buddah of Suburbia
Industrial: 1. OUTSIDE
Drum & Bass: Earthling
Soft Rock: Hours and The Next Day
Art Rock: Heathen and Reality
Jazz: Blackstar.
Hope this helps.

What if I like psychedelic synth pop like Ariel Pink? I know he's said Bowie and Bowie-produced the Idiot was a huge influence

Step 1: act like you have superior music tastes

This reminds me of Scary Monsters. Lots of synthesizers, and definitely has an 80s vibe.
Here's a sample track.

THERE'S A STAARRRRMAAAANNN WAITING IN THE SKYYY
anything from hunky dory to lets dance

I'd agree with the other guy. I'd absolutely suggest Scary Monsters. It's a transitional album for him, but it definitely carries that same feel and it was definitely the first for a lot of people. After that I'd suggest Aladdin Sane, maybe Ziggy Stardust. I feel you might like the ethic behind Diamond Dogs, but I'm spitballing here.
Try Live Nassau Coliseum '76, failing the rest. It's a good way in on the funky, soul-inspired sound he got on Station to Station with a rougher edge, he was definitely on the top of his game live, there.
But definitely start with Scary Monsters.

Listen 1970-1980. You can skip pinups.
Any other way is bogus.
If you don't make it through you're a loser.

These are terrible descriptions.
Holy shit listening to Space Oddity Remastered while high is the best fucking thing ever

Unfortunately David Bowie was cremated so there is no longer any way of digging up his corpse and wearing it like a suit. Sorry OP

>Art Rock - Heathen
>Soft Rock - The Next Day
The Next Day totally rocks harder than Heathen mein famalampai

Don't
Any ideas on recs for King Crimson? Only listened to In the Court of The Crimson King and Red so far, I liked the Starless-esque songs.
Start at the beginning and when you get to Blackstar stop!

Stop there, their later shit is garbage.
>>69126253
this is not a bad order
listen to absolute beginners too
>>69126314
holy shit this is really good
>>69125736
A shovel
Start with the 90's and skip everything from the 70's.

Lark's Tongue in Aspect
>>69126253
This is pretty much how I got into Bowie, maybe swap Scary Monsters and Station to Station and add Let's Dance in Between

Underrated

>He doesn't like Blackstar
Sad!
