You like to daydream, play video games, and or engage some artistic activity while listening to music. You like minimalism, but aren't fond of completely ambient stuff. You're slightly taller than average

Me:

MBV - Loveless
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True
Wire - Pink Flag
The Chameleons - Script of The Bridge

Pavement - Terror Twilight
Mass of the Fermenting Dregs - s/t
Joni Mitchell - Blue
Spangle call Lilli line - PURPLE
el ten eleven - s/t

I'll preface all of this by saying I'm probably talking out of my ass.
>>69121818
Your list reminds me of this dude from work. Probably the most knowledgable guy in his role, but timid and lets people walk all over him so long as they sweet-talk and say what he wants to hear. I see the albums in your list and while I'm sure you're aware it's pretty pleb, you enjoy it anyways. And I can respect that, even if it's a little disappointing because I see some of myself in that.

>>69121769
Your five seem really idyllic, in that they give a "things might be shit but we'll be all right" kind of vibe. In that sense you're either too young to know better or old enough to have found your niche. At the same time, they seem too diverse to be your actual favorites and like you're putting on airs (I could be wrong).

>>69121734
Most of your list is pretty noisy, which makes me think you're less energetic and more enjoy the buzz of feeling slightly uncomfortable. You're probably a pretty normal dude most of the time and treat those albums like highs ("this feels pretty good") more than the lyrical elements (which is neither good nor bad). Lastly, you're starting to feel emotionally distant and can only feel mild changes in mood (no high highs or low lows, just a calm numbness).

....The fuck are you talking about? Those albums (with the exception of Hancock) have been in my favorites for years, before I found /mu/. I'm sorry man you were like...completely off.

> Those albums (with the exception of Hancock) have been in my favorites for years, before I found /mu/.

Could be true, but I've seen enough lists to doubt that. The point of the thread is to make assumptions and that's how the list comes off to me.

A quick "how to seem like you're cultured and knowledgeable about music" checklist:

* 1 jazz album (even though you don't normally listen to jazz)
* 1 hiphop album (even though you don't normally listen to hiphop)
* 80s art pop or noise rock band (because its old enough to have 20 years of cultural approval but young enough not to be considered dad rock)
* 00s pop artist (because you're not completely pretentious)
* Wildcard

See: literally half the lists ITT.

Always have a hard time picking for these, so it's split by rows into albums/singles/jazz/classical respectively.

HMs to Glenn Branca and Autechre because I feel bad not having them on here somewhere.

William S. Burroughs - Dead City Radio
>>
>>69123057
I won't assume you're saying that about me specifically, but I DO very genuinly enjoy the albums in my top 5

The Herbie album was because I figured I SHOULD get into jazz so I've been listening to his discography from the beginning, I've even been ranking the albums I have listened to from him.

The Jay Z album is because I like Jay Z's work a lot and it's one of the best hip hop debuts I've ever heard. There's PLENTY of other rap I like (Kanye, OutKast, Mf DOOM, Tribe, etc)

The Nylon Curtain was the first album I ever bought from Billy Joel. I bought it on vinyl at a flea market along with 'Songs in the Attic', and I thought it was great.

Bjork was the first artist I ever collected the full discography of, that album and Biophilia are my favorites.

And as for David Bowie he's my favorite musician, I love all of his albums and I probably talk about Diamond Dogs on here more than anything.

I assure you. I don't fake my tastes.
