well it looks like a sitar, I can tell you that much

a sitar is useless without extensive lessons on tuning, determining scales, how to play it, how to keep the string buzz in tact (jiwari)...

its a complicated instrument, not one that you can just "jam" and goof around on if you don't have lessons

yeah well im intending to actually learn it properly, but im still wondering if this is worth it for the price. I know that traditional instruments like this requires a lot of practice. But would you say this one looks like its worth 400 euros? Sry the pics arent that high res, but according to the seller (which is a friends, friend, so he wont rip me of) it is in good condition.

A good sitar can be expensive as fuck. Get the brand and model number down and use a website on reverb to compare it prices.

Good luck, I have always been interested in the sitar, but never had the motivation to buy one since I'm a shitty musician.

Kind of sounds like it might be a gimmicky thing made by a local for tourists. It looks nice from the pictures though. If you have a teacher or friend who knows about sitars, you might want to bring him along to test it out.

yeah it probably is a tourist gimmick. Well, ive thought about it but i dont really know anyone experienced with sitars, thought i would get me a teacher after i bought it. thats why i came here just to ask if someone had some experience. I know its kinda impossible to determine the qualite of the sitar with the pics i provided but still, would just like to hear some words of advice
