He needs to make less-serious music again, something like the xmas tracks.

They're so fun and a bit tacky that a lot of his musical talents come out. Like some of the xmas tracks are legitimately more sincere sounding than some of his other work- but i guess he intended that.

I don't understand this you're missing out on so much if you ignore lyrics to songs (and I don't just mean for Sufjan but for anyone). Why even bother listening to any songs with lyrics at all? One of the reasons Sufjan is so amazing to me is how he tells stories with his lyrics and the music enhances that by hitting you during the most emotional moments.

Definitely not a 10. The lyrics are good but the music is very minimal and stripped back. I understand that's kind of the point it's a very vulnerable and personal album but I think Sufjan is better when he does his more elaborate and electronic music like Age of Adz. I saw him during his Carrie and Lowell tour and he fleshed out the songs into more electronic stuff and I liked it way more than the studio album.

I don't think anyone was calling Sufjan a nazi. That haircut is, by some people, known as the "Hitler Youth," because it was very popular with that group when it was still around.

However, if you don't want to insult your barber, other names I've heard for it are "undercut" (usually for people with longer hair on top) and the "Ivy League" (more like Sufjan's). If they don't get it, ask for a buzz on the sides (usually a length 3 or so) and a scissor cut on the top. You could also bring in images to clarify.
