It is kinda cool, but especially when the chords kick in, it sounds like stock music for an upbeat youtube channel or something. But it also sounds like it could be an 80s pop song.

I like it, vocals sound flat sometimes but you're probably aware of that.
For the first song, I think you should spend more time fucking around with the dynamics so that the song doesn't sound like its at the same volume for the whole time.

Thanks, guys. I'll make it more dynamic and re-record and/or scrap the vocals. Gonna see if a friend wants to sing on them. I feel like I'm coming at the whole idea of singing wrong.

Regarding the Tree song, it sounds like Crywank / Radiohead / Damon Albarn voice which is solid. nice exploration although not a full idea since you aren't keeping a beat. Chord changes and vocal melody are nice. I like that 7th chord and then how you escaped from it back to the root chord.

Thanks, and it is kind of in free time, although the project that I'm working on is kind of acoustic ambient in a way, in the sense that a lot of it is in free time. Although it'll have some rhythmic drumming parts too, kind of a mix, I guess

At least my songs are kind of arhythmic (besides the drumming compositions), but my friends recorded us jamming and want to make those into songs, so those are pretty rhythmic. But the the project isn't done, so it might kind of homogenize I guess

Surprised people haven't torn you apart considering it's 4chan. Anyways, yes your voice is not great. However, it just needs practice. Simple as that. Singing is a skill. Also, Suf's voice is not good anyways. Hear him live and you'll know what I mean. So, yeah, I think you're fine if you just practice.

Working on a friend's folk/alternative rock album and curious what some people here might think. Be warned, it's not exactly cutting-edge or /mu/-core or anything of the sort, but I think it's coming along really nicely for its genre/audience/intent.

I did the bass. It's completely unmastered and still missing electric guitar/non-scratch vox, but these are the final acoustic/drum/bass parts, just not mixed/mastered.

Here's probably my favorite song from the album so far:

>sounds catchy and fun, nice bass playing. He has a nice voice
Thanks for listening, and thank you for the feedback! Glad you dug it. I think it's the catchiest number we have so far, by far. It gets stuck in my head often.

I dig your track, too. The drums are really well-made and mixed. I feel like the song as a whole would work better if the drums were further back in the mix and a nice vocal was layered on top. Even just an atmospheric vocal would do.
If you're just trying to have the song rely on the movement of the drums and synths, though, you might want to try a slightly less busier drum track. It treads the line between too much and just enough at times in a way that feels a bit distracting. I still enjoy it though. Very well made!

3: eh,not anything interesting here in my opinion.

>>68895796
The beat is a bit too cute at times, you'd do well to simply throw in a few pauses or rests. Also I think a stronger and more varied melody (perhaps in the intro) wouldn't go amiss. Not to change the nature of the track entirely, but just to provide a contrast for the rest.

>>68898521
Really nice mate. Really really nice. Could you try Chicago? Or a Beatles song? I'd be interested to listen.

I think you were off a little on some of the louder vocal parts, plus the crescendos/decres could be smoother (though I am aware shitty mics make that difficult)

so i know most people attempt not to clip...but i'm confused because i may download a song from a major label artist and the wav form will look like a rectangular blob with everything maxed out. So, when you master a song, you can let audio appear to clip? but if it gets too loud it will actually clip?

the common procedure for mastering is to master for phones and earphones. originally it was for radio but it's done in much the same way. if you're listening to music you're likely on a commute or in public where there's a lot of noise, so the music is usually to be mastered at as constant a volume as possible (0dB). so there's that and mastering like that also makes dance music sound better in clubs and stuff cause it's gives the impression that the music is louder than it really is which saves money on expensive sound systems

the reason for the loud mastering in clubs is half-wrong. I meant to say that yes the mastering makes it sound louder than it is on the same speakers, but it's more about the dance producers competing with each other for a louder more overwhelming sound

Just the fact that you combined these two at all makes it awesome. You made it work pretty well too. Makes Rush sound like a Punk band.

not bad, don't be afraid to put a bit more force behind your notes when singing. Once your voice opened up at the end it sounded like it had a lot more character.

Newtral Milk double album confirmed

Nice voice though, a lot of volume and power. You should start a NMH tribute band
