Minako Yoshida - Discography
>City-Pop/Lounge/Soul/Vocal-Jazz/Funk/Synth-Pop
Yoshida was one of the greatest names of city-pop. She is remarkable for owning a peculiarly frail, worned out yet cathartic voice and many of her songs are instantly recognizable for anyone.Worth mentioning that she's also got a taste for epic songs that are a bit unusual for the genre, some 8-10 minute long soul suites that can become quite intriguing. If you are a fan of lush instrumentation, chill coastal ambiance with touching vocals then you'll most likely enjoy each one of her albums.

Kimiko Kasai - Yellow Carcass in The Blue (1971)
>Bebop/Vocal Jazz/Free-Jazz
Another very well regarded outing by Kimiko Kasai, known among many things for the classic Butterfly album, a collaboration with legend pianist Herbie Hancock. This one can confuse expectations though, so I would not recommend it for someone who liked strictly that type of sound and ambience of Butterfly because this one is not much like that at all. Over half of the entire length of the LP is entirely instrumental and it also gets a little experimental and out there at times, it can be sort of a turn-off for people who aren't used to raw jazz and just wanted some vocal jazz to chill out. The atmosphere is relaxing, and the imagery is gritty, dense and a little surreal. In my opinion a top notch release, make sure to check out and make your own mind though

A used game from someone who may or my not have taken good care of their game is not worth that much money. I paid for Namco Museum 1 and 3 for 30 USD each back when they were sold as NEW. Besides, all retro games are too overly priced these days but expect the retro gaming market to crash in a few years. It hss nothing to do with it being expensive but rather, it is not worth the asking price of the seller. In the meantime, save the argument for /vr/.

An unexpected collab between David Tibet of Current 93 fame and Youth, bass player and founding member of Killing Joke.
The album finds Tibet's halfway-singing-halfway-fevered-preaching at its best in ten years, easily. He wails in ways I didn't think were possible for a man over 55 years old, he actually *sings*, or at least follows the notes a lot more closely than is his custom, he gives it his all and I'm pretty sure he won't be able to do it again, at least not without hurting himself. The lyrics follow a very straight line from those of C93, which is to be expected: Surreal imagery that combines revelation with the mundane, surrealism applied to religious iconography and concepts, the juxtaposition of childhood innocence and depravity; it's all there as usual and it's not something I wish to see changing, to be honest.
Youth is an amazing producer. He's definitely a better producer than bass player and that's saying quite a lot. He knows sound, and how to twist and mold it to his willing. The music's neither industrial nor neofolk, but it does give off a heavy martial and cinematic vibe. We're clearly getting prepped for a glorious battle or a pious last stand. Whatever the case, horns, strings, percussion and hard-to-identify sources of sound and melody fill the air in a claustrophobic manner without losing grandeur, indued with a particle of divinity, as they say of prophet Mohammed.
Timbres abound and clash, without being cacophonous. Tibet dominates the music without overriding it. There's a strong sense of the solemn and transcendental throughout and it's exactly what I would have expected C93's next stage to sound like, after the mind-blowing, game-changing Ballstorm, Sing Omega (2010).

Space Echo - The Mystery Behind the Cosmic Sound of Cabo Verde Finally Revealed! (2016, 320)
>afrobeat, afro-funk, cavacha, psychedelic funk, psychedelic rock, traditional african music
>In the spring of 1968 a cargo ship was preparing to leave the port of Baltimore with an important shipment of musical instruments. Its final destination was Rio De Janeiro, where the EMSE Exhibition (Exposição Mundial Do Son Eletrônico) was going to be held.
>It was the first expo of its kind to take place in the Southern Hemisphere and many of the leading companies in the field of electronic music were involved. Rhodes, Moog, Farfisa, Hammond and Korg, just to name a few, were all eager to present their newest synthesisers and other gadgets to a growing and promising South American market, spearheaded by Brazil and Colombia.
>The ship with the goods set sail on the 20th of March on a calm morning and mysteriously disappeared from the radar on the very same day.
> One can only imagine the surprise of the villagers of Cachaço, on the Sao Nicolau island of Cabo Verde, when a few months later they woke up and found a ship stranded in their fields, in the middle of nowhere, 8 km from any coastline.

>Negativland - Helter Stupid (1989)
>Plunderphonics, Sound Collage
When their 1987 album, Escape From Noise, proved to be more successful than they expected, Negativland were expected to do a national tour. However, their record company, SST, could not provide sufficient funds. To explain the cancelled tour, Negativland issued a fake press release saying that the song "Christianity Is Stupid" had played a role in the David Brom murders (He killed his parents, brother and sister with an axe). The press release implied that Brom had listened to Negativland's song "Christianity Is Stupid" before the fatal quarrel with his religious parents. Negativland's press release was picked up by San Francisco Bay Area media, including CBS News. Negativland recorded much of the news about their supposed influence on Brom, and in 1989 worked this material into another album called Helter Stupid. Eventually, Negativland exposed their own hoax during an NPR interview on the subject.

Well they used it as a reason for not being able to tour, they didn't use it to sell records. Then they made this record a year later, and used the news story because hey the reporters didnt check their facts and reported on a false story that they made up. It's a concept album too based around the entire incident.
If anything, the news exploited the death and basically promoted the band by saying their name and the name of the song, also playing part of the song.

Huey Lewis and the News - Fore! (MP3 320)
>New Wave >Dubs core
Their early work was a little too 'new-wave' for my taste, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own - both commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore!, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip To Be Square", a song so catchy most people probably don't listen to the lyrics - but they should! Because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself!
