All industrial except maybe SPK is underrated on /mu/
>>
>>68698007
Really? I rarely see SPK get mentioned on /mu/. Foetus and NIN get the most discussion. I'd say Current 93 too but only their later folk stuff gets discussed.
>>
>>68698007
Coil is talked about a lot too, but most people just focus on The Ape of Naples which is pretty overrated.
>>
Troller - Graphic is some pretty sweet darkwave from this year. Great vocals and atmosphere.
>>
I found this one through 433rpm which is a great blogspot for this kinda stuff.

I'm also listening to un-kommuniti - black dwarf wreckordings 83-85. this band and that whole black dwarf crew is sadly ignored by /mu/

well there's also coil and maybe two TG albums

How does /dark/ feel about early Skinny Puppy?

I'm entranced by electro industrial that is basically just goth synthpop a la Twitch era Ministry.

>>68698148
Early SP is so god-tier. Their first two Back & Forth comps are very much worth checking out.
>>
Just listened to pic related for the first few times and holy shit. I'm not familiar with Death in June in any way, but this is god tier. For some reason it reminds me of Within the Realm of a Dying Sun by Dead Can Dance, probably because of the echoey production, vast keyboard backgrounds and the dark jaded voice that reminds me of Brendan Perry's tracks. The lyrics are pretty compelling as well.
What's the next DiJ album to get into?

In other news what are you guys doing for halloween? Probably going to spend the night in the Paris Catacombs with a few metalhead friends.

this is great, any more where tht almost whisper-y vocal effect is layered like this?
>>

iirc a few other CW tracks have it. the only other example of a similar style that's coming to mind is sutcliffe jugend - blue rabbit, especially on bad-mannered prophet. but that has a very different tone and I wouldn't suggest listening to it on shrooms. I should be able to think of more but nothings coming to mind atm
>>
>>68721949
I've got it open in another tab, I'm starting to feel it. Why not on shrooms?

This is going to get worse the next few days when the "gibs me spoopy patrician reccs for the Halloween party xD" requests start pouring in.
>>
>>68725558
They've put out some pretty good albums. Nothing mind blowing imo but solid.
Mask is probably the best in their catalogue for most people. Consider starting with it if you want to try out Bauhaus.
It's on the spookier side of goth and they've got a good sound to go with it, generally speaking. Worth checking out if you're into the whole /dark/ thing.

Coil- Musick to play in the dark vol 2

>>68713392

Not really. It was edgy underground music, but it never quite took itself seriously enough to really be /dark/.

does anyone have a link for this?
>>
>>68726687
I asked because it's an offshoot of post-punk
>>
>>68727282
>it's an offshoot of post-punk
yeah but they're pretty distantly related. wasn't it meant to be a rebellion against new wave?
>>
>>68727318
the idea of melodies and traditional music were trashed but I can hear a lot of influence from the post punk scene
>>
>>68727282

Post-punk has more focus on atmosphere while still being deconstructive and rebellious.

No Wave was almost entirely deconstruction and rebellion; the lack of production, intentional lack of meaningful lyrics and cohesive structure meant that it was very messy chaotic music that had little to no real atmosphere to it that could really make it /dark/. Some of the early-80s ("Post-No Wave") could be /dark/ because it had more thought put into the atmospheric part of the music, but the majority was not.
>>
>>68698122
yes. I liked their first one a lot, especially last winter but this new album btfo.

Yes, absolutely. I'm away from home for a year for school so tapes are a good for having a physical release that is still somewhat 'analog' like an LP. Also, they don't take up much space, which is a plus for me. Pic related.

Dutchbro here. Halloween is a cancerous holiday forced upon us by the media and corporations looking for any excuse to sell us more useless shit. This year especially it seems to have become more prominent.

Sint Maarten is the superior traditional holiday.

That said, I am attending a halloween party next week, because parties are fun. But I'm not dressing up, fuck that shit.
>>
>>68731869
I have never seen kids celebrating either st Maarten or Halloween here. I live in a Limburgish hole though. If I want to dress up I just have to wait for Carnaval.

i disagree,it's one of the better things to come out in a while. It's ambient but not out of touch, beautiful vocals, and clean tracks throughout. Really fun to listen to. Real good (meme)wave album. 9.5/10 from me.

I agree Coil's absolute best is Time Machines and Remote Viewers or any of their ambient type tracks, I don't really listen to any of their music that has lyrical themes because I'm a Christian and it's just jewish nihilism
