I'm getting a hefty raise in two weeks, and I'm going to begin investing in music hoarding, but there's so many different formats out there.

So for you audiophiles, what format is more superior? CD? Vynil? Digital etc?

buy cassette tapes, you triple nigger
>>
8-tracks

I don't know why /mu/ makes it seem as though you have to dedicate yourself to one physical format. I personally try to collect as much as I can from albums I love, regardless of the format. Every format has it's pros and cons, which makes it enjoyable to listen to music on multiple medias. In terms of sound quality, CD's are probably your best bet, unless you are really rich and can afford an incredible record set up.

I thoroughly enjoy collecting vinyl, it's an expensive habit but I'll find albums I enjoy through /mu/ or other sources, love the album, get it on vinyl, and it's like wow I actually own this this is something I physically possess

not to mention possibly the worst resale value.

I would do Vinyl, great frame-able artwork, has resale value, good talking pieces for your pad as well, its also the comfiest.

Tru. I have two Miles Davis LPs, both 6 eyes, that I've had for a year and honestly I display them like gold trophies, but I've yet to even buy a turntable, still deciding on something that won't break the bank. Any reliable brands?

Digital is the best. You can listen it throu your macbook or iphone, it's lott cheeper than cds and has better quality. So you can open any music file in free Audacity app and apply few effects on it - pitch, paulstretch, reverb etc. Save it and publish as your original experimental vaporwave album - then youll be able to get some buck from it, people love to buy vaporwave in bandcamp. So digital media is the future and present - go for it anon!

I heavily recommend a pro-ject turntable they are reliable and pleasing to the eye

Try to find a vintage record player and buy a new cartridge. Make sure it has adjustable weight and preferably anti skating.

this. owning only 10/10 albums is the way to go so you can spend money on something that will better your life long term.
vinyl are expensive as fuck anyway
>>
I'd just go with CDs and rip them to flac/mp3
