Was just gifted this LP. Thoughts on this album? And where should I go with Swans from here?

it's pretty mediocre desu
Very underrated Swans album, that often gets overshadowed from the following three Swans albums that were released after it. Swans is a cool band to listen to chronologically, so I guess start with Filth afterwards.
Mediocre? I was legit curious what /mu/ fags had to say about it. My first full album experience with Swans. Person who gave it to me said it was their favorite.

I mean it's not bad but compared to their other albums it's not as good
What would others consider their favorite swans album?
It's a pretty good Angels of Light album. "No Words / No Thoughts" is the only track made by Gira with Swans in mind.

Good question. For me from their earliest stuff it's "Cop", from their post-punk era it's "The Great Annihilator" and from their post-reunion material it's "To Be Kind".

Personally I actually really liked that album. However, it's more similar to Micheal Gira's side project Angels of Light, which is also worth checking out if you liked Father Will Guide. The Seer is my personal favorite album, but most people will say either To Be Kind or Soundtracks for the Blind.

I love the first part of it.
I'd say the opening track sounds a lot like the Seer album; the rest of the tracks remind me of the bunny albums somewhat.
However, like >>68614147 said, listening in the chronological order is well worth it, if you want to get into them.
Op here. This music is straight down evil feeling to me. Makes me feel strange. This odd carnal feeling. Like I want to dance in the woods naked. Thoughts? Peoples feelings and the appeal to Swans for them?

>Like I want to dance in the woods naked.
you got a drawer full of magic healing crystals ah?
Lel. 4chan wanting to be cockbags instead of discussing topics at hand. Whats new?

>Whats new?
You, apparently.
Doing Swans chronologically, at white light right now. Anyone else listening through?
New to /mu/ yes. Trying to contact like minded people that actually listen to this shit. Sorry fuckwads. Forgot you're all elitist scum here that cant discuss the intrest you've created a whole culture around. 4chans for fighting not discussing of course.

wew lad
Everything in this thread is discussing the thread topic until you started sperging.
Okay. Any annons thoughts on why this band is something i shoud continue to get into? What makes it special to you?
>>68614287
The Seer is much more commonly loved than TBK, it's generally considered the better album
I love that album. It doesn't really do anything they haven't done before, but it does it well. Check out their 90s albums if you want something similar.

lol First fucking post said the album mediocre, which is pretty much the general consensus -- fine album, but pretty mediocre in the greater context of their discography -- and you dismissed that with a huff and a puff and a "uhhh how about you ACTUALLY TELL ME what people think of the album".
Post breakup swans is such trite. They made legitimately good no-wave and post punk/rock don't know where they went wrong though.
>>68615369
Not my intended way of coming off. I guess just the feeling of someone being like "youre an asshole on how you say this music makes you feel.
"
>>68614254
no doubt, Soundtracks
