That's not necessarily a religious album, though. It's not exactly mass music, in spite of the title, in the strict sense. It just takes a couple of random concepts from the mysteries. And it was made by a couple of brits who needn't be religious.

Same here, if I'm in the right mood no surprises and let down will make me a bit teary eyed. I think it's incredible that music can elicit that response though, especially if you're like me and your yearly cry count isn't even in the double digits

No, its not. Because I am exactly the same, this is my album.

I first heard no surprises when somebody recommended it to me during really bad depression. I must have listen to it about 300 times over the course of being depressed.

What was even more amazing was when I decided to finally give the whole album a listen after a really shitty heartbreak. I always assumed no surprises would be the one really sentimental song on there, and I just liked it since it was comforting, and since I was in such a shitty spot before I never had that little bit of motivation to just listen to the whole album.

That was pretty much the worst heartbreak of my life, it was and still is the one girl that ever made me feel that way. And I went through that right after being depressed badly for a few years with multiple suicide attempts.

Fucking let down ended up with me screaming into a pillow for 30 minutes.

I still don't know how any album can ever be more powerful than this one.
