same here. I'm not into it enough to be a metalhead, but there are some really unique albums within the genre that anyone who dismisses it entirely are missing out on

metalheads aren't even that obnoxious. you get the 15 year olds who talk about metal being superior, but other than that it's just people who sincerely enjoy a particular genre, and I don't see any problem with that. it is its own world within music, which is why you end up with albums that sound like nothing else (although, admittedly, surrounded by a lot of generic paint by numbers shit, too). in a music world dominated by post-irony and jaded audiences, I kinda like that sincerely passionate element of metal

exactly. it's not even about taste really, it's about that feeling of superiority. if you feel superior to others because of your music taste you are a child. that goes for certain metalheads and for the kids on /mu/ that think they're mature because they "grew out" of it and started listening to /mu/core. actual adults just listen to and explore what they enjoy and are interested in, whether that is one genre or many, without worrying about how they come off to other people for listening to it

You should kill yourself, but not for the reasons you think.
