Does /mu/ like Killing Joke? I hardly ever see them mentioned

They are one of the most consistently great bands in last 40 years

Also funny how they changed styles over their career from post-punk to gothic/new wave rock to industrial metal

My dad's favourite band. I didnt really dig into theirs pre 21st century stuff, except for the very first album. Their newer stuff tho is surprisingly good. 2003's killing joke and hosannas are great, but mmxii and pylon are my favs. Tbh I think that pylon may even be the best of these all.

It's really jarring listening to something like Adorations or Love Like Blood and then their more recent stuff. I can't think of any 80s artist that has made such a big shift and remained relevant musically (although I'd love to be corrected).

Their post-1990s stuff is honestly the best of their work. They really perfected their sound late in their career. The few modern re-recordings of their early work they have blow the originals out of the water.

I really wish they had continued or revisited this kind of sound. Geordie is the perfect guitarist for it, even Kevin Shields thinks so, so I've seen him say in interviews. What a tremendous sound.

aside from the fall and wire, i can't think of any other original post-punk band which has remained as creatively vital as they are throughout such a long existence

i've been rediscovering brighter than a thousand suns lately via the restored original chris kimsey mix of the album and it really makes the material come off much more like a natural follow-up to night time rather than the awkward commercial compromise that it came off as upon the original 1986 remixed release
