Who will deliver the "The Dreaming" of the century? Grimes? Julia Holter?

I would say Julia. Shes more likely to experiment more with her sound. Not that grimes couldn't.
Carly Rae Jepsen

Joanna is great, but she could never make something like The Dreaming

I'm not so sure, Anon.
Kate Bush was one of my top 3 artists since childhood. Then I found out about Joanna Newsom when Ys came out and she has since been my #1.
She has a much better grasp on composition and arrangement, more interesting lyrics and better vocal range and capability. I see no reason why she couldn't out do The Dreaming, and one could easily argue that she already has.

I actually find Ys better than The Dreaming and agree about everything else. I just can't see Joanna making an "I've gone mad album" as Kate describes The Dreaming.

It's already delivered: Halfaxa. Visions is Grimes own Hounds of Love. Halfaxa is way out there than The Dreaming.
I think Let England Shake is just as good as the dreaming, both are great imo

Joanna Newsom has NOTHING, i repeat NOTHING on Kate Bush's masterpiece The Dreaming, the only strength Joanna has are her lyrics and those are great but indulgent and overrated by people who are ready to call everything in verse that's long and weirdly structured and flowery worded a brilliant reinvention.

Indeed, just some good lyrics don't make a masterpiece. And the less we talk about her squeaky Lisa Simpson voice, the better.

>squeaky Lisa Simpson voice

No one. Kate's a once in a lifetime artist. She'll likely be recognized as the best female artist for decades to come.

Let's be real, Kate Bush's voice is far more pleasant than J. Newsom's voice.
