On a real note tho, people complain about the commercialism of hip-hop but I think there is some merit in the idea that it's punk. People will always take things that resonate with young urban culture and try to make money off of it. It's the way of the world.

But you still have people doing great things in Hip Hop that are eschewing any popular conventions. Pic related is hhaoty for me and it's pretty much as far from popular rap as possible right now. I'm not trying to be backpack extraordinaire - there's room for both, but people shouldn't act like hip hop now is only main stream.
