Post an album you don't understand, and other people tell you the stupid shit you need to do to understand it.
>>68346140
You need to have shit taste.

Sometimes a pop album is just a pop album, even if you don't like it.

Did you make it to Bat You'll Fly?

>tfw went to 4 different high schools and am a freshman in college now
basically this. drop three tabs of acid, do some shrooms, lay down in a comfy bed in the dark and let go
>>68346211
pop? i would never describe this as pop
>>68346193
Nah, it's garbage. The whole "higher frequencies growing up" gimmick is just that- a gimmick. The compositions are boring and the timbres are sub-par.
Danse Manatee is better,
>>68346223
Degenerate scum.
>>68346140
There isn't some deep underlying concept or approach you need to understand/follow to enjoy 90% of pop music and this isn't an exception.
If you don't like it, it's because of your taste.
>>68346241
>i would never describe this as pop
It's pop.
>>68346251
>>68346140
Listen to the album more than three times and then get back to me, I was like you at first
>>68346251
>unironically using the word "degenerate"
>>tripfag thinks his opinions matter
>>68346280
In what way is this pop?
You take a glass of milk and pour it in your dick, then start sucking it. After 5 minutes put your hands inside your mouth until you vomit into a jar, take the jar and put it inside a microwave for 10 minutes. When the microwave finishes go and take a shit in your couch, then start rubbing the poop on your body while jerking off with your feet, as soon as you come start playing the album.
That's what i did and it's now my favourite record
k how about this 1 mates, since none of you wanna post an album yourselves

>tfw to intelligent to argue with somebody this close-minded
>>68346423
Your reasoning as to why this album is "garbage" just proves how pretentious you actually are lmao
he will defend this, further supporting his stupidity
>>68346332
because he's using pop to mean a different thing than you
i fucking swear this is the most retarded argument that keeps happening on /mu/
there are two different definitions of the word pop in the context of music:
Popular, as opposed to Art and Folk music: in this sense "Pop" encompasses all rock, r&b, dance, hip hop, most jazz, and indeed "pop" in the second sense of the word. Pop is generally stored as a recording, Art is generally stored as a script, and Folk is generally stored through memory.
The second meaning...
Pop: music made primarily for mass consumption and radio airplay, following trends of the time (currently pop is very hip hop influenced, a couple of years ago it was greatly influenced by big room house and brostep, before that pop was mostly influenced by indie rock). almost exclusively vocalist driven
Therefore you two are having a semantic argument because you're using the second definition of the word "pop" and he's using the first definition. it's fucking stupid. STGSTV is a Popular music album; it's not art or folk. But it's not a Popular music album, its genre in this sense is neo-psychedelia

A plebeian is the exact opposite of a patrician . While the musical preferences among individual plebs vary as widely as music itself, all plebs are easily identifiable by obvious tendencies and behaviors stemming from inner conflict between the compulsion to maintain a self-image of being "really into music" and a stubborn refusal to act accordingly. The pleb is threatened by critical discussion (both of music which the pleb enjoys and music which the pleb does not enjoy), openly hostile toward anyone who presumes an authoritative position no matter how legitimately, and rankles at any suggestion that he or she look inward to inspect his/her own biases or assumptions about music, or even at any suggestion that he/she might hold any biases in the first place.
What plebeians believe to be a keen interest in music is in reality nothing more than an obsession with "taste". This is why they can entertain themselves for hours examining scrobble counts on last.fm, maintaining contrived parabolas of their RYM star ratings, or meticulously assembling a Top 50/100 chart which displays their grocery-list eclecticism, but won't read a music text. This is why they loudly proclaim how their virginal taste is unsullied by any music reviewer's opinion, yet memorize each of those opinions to cite in their endless "drone" accusations. It is why they will evade addressing specific musical assertions at any cost, shifting the topic to popularity, fan image, or imaginary concepts such as "entry-level" or "fedoracore", all of which are better suited to their interests and expertise than actual music discussion.

I don't get it, it's just jazz.
>>68349209
>just jazz
>>68346140
I don't get whats so hard to get about this album. Sure, the noise in a couple of tracks requieres a special taste to like it, but in my opinion it's mainly a story telling Album. The lyrics are wonderful in my opinion, and the music is very moody, kind of lofi and sometimes pretty catchy. No masterpiece, but it really fits to the overall mood of the lyrics. A well produced balladpopfest just wouldnt really do the lyrics justice, and so the noise also helps deliver the feeling it wants to achieve. If you don't get into the feeling, you're basically fucked with this album, except with choclate girl maybe, the acoustic guitar part is just catchy af.
The noise is the contrast to the beauty and represents the the insecuritys etc of the album, but normally always is a part of the "beauty" if you could call it so. The good things just sometimes need a strong contrast to be relatable, that's why I think that every "quirk" in Xiu Xius Fab Muscles fits perfectly (his other Albums feel kind of tryhard feelz to me).
With that said, you need to get the >feelz or you're >fucked
>>68349209
well... yeah
>>68346140
The zips prevent me from enjoying this album.
>>68349061

I actually enjoy the album, i gave it a 7/10 on rym. The thing is, i just really can't explain WHY i like the album, i've never heard anything like it before so i just don't get what's so special about it. Maybe like >>68350057 said, i need to listen to more albums from them i guess.
>>68350238
yeah its a good idea to be a fan of coil before hearing it. it was released just after the death of the vocalist. something of a blackstar/donuts
i mean what the fuck
>>68349061
You obviously don't hate people enough.

This
The only way i got this album was after a few stressing days of class with people i didn't like. It also helps if you hold your masturbation for a long time.
