Disliking/not listening to something because of how it is commonly viewed in the social realm is just as stupid as forming opinions/accepting the opinions of others as completely sound and legitimate without educating yourself first. There are some exceptions to this rule, like things that are common knowledge dangerous to you and your life and the lives of others (ex: meth, starting fires). I trust you can use your head though
