I only listened to Merriweather Post Pavilion from Animal Colletive, but I didn't quite got into it.
Felt that the sounds were too artificial, if that's an excuse.

And I know what you mean regarding MPP. I went in chronological order through their material (loving it) and when I hit MPP, didn't feel it for a long time. Nowadays I see it as a great-but-not-as-good-as-the-rest album.

Not sure how much you know about AnCo, but pretty much every single release is worlds different from the last. I'd say check out 'Sung Tongs' and 'Prospect Hummer,' both very stripped down affairs.
