Second-hand HSS MIM strat, around $350. Something cheaper? Yamaha Pacifica or Squier strat.
Second-hand because 1) it's cheaper with no discernible reduction in quality and 2) so you won't lose money on the resale if you quit.

Does anyone have any experience with the jet city 20w head? Im looking for someone who can tell me how it does in an indie/punk setting.

I swear to god, the only reviews are made by blooze lawyers and edgy shred kiddies

All fender: dummy paid overpriced for a mediocre guitar
Gibson: dummy paid WAY too much for a slightly less mediocre guitar
ESP/IBANEZ/JACKSON: pointyness is proportional to lack of musical knowledge
PRS: i bought this to hang on my wall and occasionally I play dad rock
Epi/Squire: im a babby but at least I know not to buy first act or radioshack special guitar-

shaped-objects
Danelectro: dumb hipster doesn't know shit about music, probably owns a pedalboard
Taylor/Martin: fuck my ass while I sing shitty covers of jason mraz
Cordoba/any classical: im better than u but i still dont know how to use a pick
any weird stringed instrument played by an obv. guitar fag (including ukelele, banjo, multi

stringed guitars, microgutiars): pls notice me senpai

In Nashville. There's a noticeable delay between bending and actually hearing it, with a clunk in between as the mechanism kicks in. How did you find it?

For rhythm, it's a godsend. For lead as the way it's (perhaps unfortunately, given this development) evolved, it's a compromise.
>>
>>68305223
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlU832XS8YQ

Play one that's set up/instealled correctly and you won't have those problems.
>>
>>68305286
Anything that's set up so that increased tension immediately affects pitch necessarily removes the system's resistance to increased tension! The only way out of this is if we never started bending to begin with.
>>
>>68305286
top kek what a piece of shit. he's trying to show how you can still bend with tiny quick bends and then the mechanism catches up and kills it. it sounds like complete shit
>>
>>68305286

what should my first guitar be
>>
>>68305551
Just keep practising. Your speed will increase over time.
Using a metronome and speeding it up when you feel like you can go faster is a pretty good method for learning speed and accuracy.

Learning simple songs is pretty important in the beginning. Get the basics down first and proceed from there.
>>
>>68305637
Why are you shilling so hard? Im not saying you cant go out and buy one, or that it doesnt work for your situation, but im saying that really, a hardtail or good trem and decent tuners will do the same thing, without the flaws in bending

fender: theyre all the fucking same but fender owners will defend their exact model to the end, they tend to also preach tonewoods while the wood used was because there was lots of it close by. They also love being cucked by the same shitty neckplate design because muh vintage

Gibson; paying WAY too much for a guitar, favourite guitar colours include only sunburst, thinks the name on the headstock affects tone.

IBANEZ / Jackson: the sharpness of ym guitars edges represent the sharpness of my katana, sees a guitar quite literally as an axe. probably a fan of skulls and other gay shit.

PRS: flat-built shitmachine- oh wait you can get it in undiscovered-nearlyextinct-placid-whale-off-blue??? sign me the fuck up!
Most likely only ever owned one amplifier.

Epi/squire; couldnt be bothered shopping around for the perfect guitar so settled for the easy option. also poor.

Danelectro: so american-looking you actually gain calories while you play. Only bought by rich dad-hipsters

Taylor/martin: MMMM BRANDING, look at my headstock while I sing wonderwall fellas

Yamaha: i dont actually give a fuck about guitars as long as they work.

ESP: retards who buy them for their looks and pointiness over the fact they have some good build qualities, like the volute on the scarf joint, but none of that matters, you only bougth an ESP because you think Gibsons are gay, right edgelord?

What's the best guitar for big band/wind band rhythm section playing around the $1000 to $2000 mark?
>>
how long does it take to sell a guitar on reverb?
>>
>>68306896
It has no scuffs or wear for its age because nobody wanted to play it in the entire 37 years it's been available. But yeah, I'm sure it's light as a feather, stays in tune, and sounds absolutely amazing though.
>>
>>68306913
A collector wants it to look nice and be perfect, whereas a player doesnt care as much, or at least, thats what its supposed to mean, but you're being an insufferable cunt about it
>>
>>68306986
So then why are there perfect examples of other guitars around? It just happens sometimes that someone dies, or gives up guitar, and it sits in the closet for 20 years. Even whoever played it couldve just been a bedroom guitarist
>>
>>68306983
Depends on what you're selling. Plus the price of course.
>>
>>68306999
in other words only a collector would be interested it and no player would be. lmao guess as to why that is?
>>
>>68307038
No, thats not what i mean. Its a stage of quality, not want. Collector is above player, because it is more expensive because of its untouched state, that doesn't mean that it is unplayable. That's like saying a survival knife is only for survivalists, even though it has utility for an average person
>>
>>68307026
Wow, now I'm convinced. You don't sound like a fucking idiot at all. Ok, I'm 100% sure it's not a paper weight at this point. You should buy it to prove me wrong just to rub it in.
>>
>>68306983

I think it'd be easier to get rid of things like partscasters on reverb but if what you're selling is something like a Strat or LP you'd get better results on ebay

obv if you are trying to jew people over asking for 290 dollars for a used 300 dollar squier you won't get far

I have 7 or 8 guitars I'd like to be rid of and will probably sell them on reverb bc they are all "customized" and I'm not really looking to profit as much as I'm looking to pass them along to other guitar players bc i never use them

not that guy, but the resonance of a full-hollow is exactly the sound you want for jazz, and I'm sure there are interesting things to be done with the feedback in metal.
>>
>>68308965
I actually already offered to this guy. Im guessing he wants 400, but i'd say fair is 275-300
>>
>>68304970
Can someone help me with this?
>>
>>68306906
I think there is really no middle ground for you. Ibanez makes some semi hollows with hottish pickups, but you really need 2 seperate guitars
>>
>>68309971

what makes a pickup hot?
>>
>>68309987
The amount of winds around the pole pieces, and its output
>>
>>68306248
>>68309557
meant duesenburg
>>
>>68309971
I had a friend who bought a couple of these prior to his fascination with Gibson ES models and that resonance is just overbearingly feedback-inducing. Hardly need a signal to get it going.

Now I need a good quality amp, but am at a loss. Should I get tube or solid state? What will make my guitar shine more, I'm going for jazz and rock songs here, lots of improv.

I bought my Telecaster for a total price of $550. This is after comparing it to Telecasters that were $800, $1200, $1800, and $2000. I had the money to spend on any one of those, and I purchased the $550 because it was frankly the better playing guitar.

More often than not, careful research will be damned. You will walk into the store and both you and the guitar will choose each other.

I've owned many tube amps in the past, but at the moment I have a Quilter Pro Block 200 (which lives on my pedalboard) going into a Mesa vertical 2x12 w/ vintage 30's. Been playing for 15 years, and ever since I started I wanted a Gibson Thunderbird, which I eventually acquired via financing only to be upset a year later.

I then rented a 5 string Ibanez from Long and Mcquade (sorry I don't remember model) instantly fell in love with it, a week after purchasing it, we were playing a few dates out of town and on the third day in vancouver our van was broken into, my new bass was stolen, an entire 5150 head and cab setup, and a smorgasbord of pedals.

I'm half asleep trying to type this hopefully it makes sense...

I'm not a guitar player, but if Ibanez's guitars are anything like my old bass, I'd recommend that, or a twelve string acoustic (things sound godly).

Anyone here able to redpill me on amp modelling/multi effects pedals? I can use one as a preamp and then the amp I connect it to will be the power amp yeah? I'm looking for something that I can plug in to my pc for recording, use headphones with for late night shenanigans but also just be able to stick it in front of a regular amp for jamming. For some reason I'd rather go down the modelling pedal route than just get a modelling amp, something about them doesn't sit right with me, probably cause the ones I've tried have been a bit shit.

>>
>>68314302
How much did you pay for your Ibanez Bass ? It's most likely an SR series as the BTB series is less widespread.
Every model of SR is incredibly similar though, aside from their Bass Workshop models, they just have the same physical specs with different pickups and QC.
As for the difference between Ibanez basses and guitars, the SR has a "305mmR" radius, which is apparently equal to 12", and the BTB have a "400mmR" radius, which is 16". The wizard neck that's on their RG, S/SA, FR guitar models, is a "400mmR" radius.
The only point where they are similar is that they all have larger radii than other brands (Fender basses are 9.5" radius, I think the larger their guitars have is 12" radius).
I think it may be one of the reasons a lot of people dislike them, personally it's the reason I love them.

Stick a goatse on it instead. Matches the soundhole.

apologies guitar-friends, but do any of you guys also play drums?

I'm struggling like a bitch to build limb independence. I am working on exercises but my question is, do mismatched hi-hat and kick patterns eventually become second nature or is it something you need to slowly learn with new rhythms every single time?

hope that makes sense

>>
>>68316882
My local guitar centers have loads of guitars. From all over the spectrum. Metal to hollow bodies. And they have expensive high end ones and cheap beginner shit too.

The small local music stores usually carry a small selection of mostly shit, entry level stuff that no one would ever buy.

Guitar Center also has a big pickup selection, lots of pedals and effects and amps. The small local shops might have one or two pickups, meme metal pickups and crappy 15 watt starter amps.

Seriously, it blows my mind the small store even stays in business. Nothing they carry is worth buying.
>>
the little local store near my house has terrible selection and all the employees are assholes. i hope they go out of business.
>>
>>68319359
This.

I went into to one to get my new guitar set up correctly for the string gauge I play.
The guy there was like "What do you want?" I said "I play a different string gauge than it was set up for and some of the frets aren't ringing out". He goes "Yes, but what do you want?!"
I'm like what the fuck, a set up like you advertise on the poster in your fucking window. Then he tells me he's busy putting away boxes and he'll get to it later and to come back in 3 to 4 hours and he'll be done.

The guys are Guitar Center were super helpful and friendly and the only reason I didn't get my guitar set up by them was because that just happened to be the tech's day off that and I really didn't feel like waiting.

Guitar center has literally never let me down.
>>
>>68319485
Geez anon just learn how to do it yourself. It is trivially simple process.
>>
>>68319540
I know, and I really have been meaning to. I just don't have to tools at my place, and this guitar is my pride and joy. I don't want to risk anything trying to set it up on my own for the first time.

I have other cheaper guitars for that.
>>
>>68319485
Youre a fucking moron, go fuck yourself. You expect him to read your mind? Imagine some retard comes up and says "I need something" you reply "Okay what"
Then he calls you an asshole for asking "what".

Did you tell him what string gauge? Do you even know? This isn't fucking rocket science. You literally need to tell him "I play X gauge. I need this restringed with X gauge strings. Please make any adjustments you think that will better the sound quality, thank you."

Mental incompetents like you make small shops go out of business, because instead of asking how it works, you just ask stupid questions and write bad reviews.

>>
>>68319594
Holy shit, jumping to conclusions like that? Goddamn. Chill the fuck out.
Of course I told him everything. Told him what I wanted, what string gauge it came with and what I play and everything. Told him about the low frets on the high strings not ringing out and all of it.

He was just a dick and acted like putting away boxes was more important than his customers giving their business to his struggling little shop.

I support who is the most friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. And in my experience, that it usually Guitar Center. Last guitar I bought from there the guy at the counter was cool as fuck, and extremely helpful and helped me find the perfect case, polished it up, and gave me a huge discount for buying the guitar and case together. Super cool dude, the kind that makes me want to continue shopping there.

>>68319608
I'd trust a guy that's payed to do it as his job more than me who's never done it before and has no experience.

>>68319643
>wrench for the truss rod if neck relief needs to be adjusted
>smaller one for the bridge saddles
>feeler gauge to test relief
>microruler to measure string height
>"a pair of hands"
Please tell me you're only pretending to be retarded.

Also the guy lowered the nut for me, no way I was going to try doing that myself with no experience.

Where do you live with a shop like that?

I guess so, they have better prices than my local store on everything but strings. Plus, dirt cheap V30 equipped cabs.

Have you been to one of the Flohmarkt. I was there this year and they were throwing out guitars by the pound.
>>
>>68320122
No. I've only been there once. I don't live in Germany but I buy like 90% of all my musical equipment from them.
>>
>>68319793
For future reference when you learn setup process, the feeler gauge and microruler aren't strictly necessary. You can use card stock as a feeler or just eyeball it. Regular ruler works fine as long as the measurement extends all the way to the end of the ruler. You can also ballpark action adjust by eye and feel.

Depending on truss rod you may only need an allen key instead of the cup wrench thing.

>>68319932
