Can someone who is not technically trained be a good singer?
People who don't know shit about pitch, octaves, and so on. If they practice and throw their heart into it, can they be good?

Thanks I have a whole folder.
"good singing" is subjective
>>68256486
no it's not.
OP just fucking said "People who don't know shit about pitch, octaves, and so on" so if you do know about that stuff, you are a good singer.

Tom Waits admits he knows very little about singing but I'd argue he's one of the best vocalists out there.
>>68256523
but you can be good without knowing that shit
and i'll take some punk singers who don't have perfect pitch over some generic boring singer
>>68256430
can you dump it? these are great

By knowing I obviously don't mean "be a master at music theory" I mean knowing how to use your vocal cords.

Sure I'll post a bunch.

I actually made the thread because of this. I love Tom Waits but he doesn't know much about the technical aspects of singing according to him.
I think a passionate singer beats a "good" singer all the time. Hence why Taylor Swift or Adele aren't fun to hear sing.
My favorite picture. Imagine living here, hanging around at midnight staring out the window at the lake, having a beer and listening to some Tom Waits.

>listening to some Tom Waits.

John Mayer was never trained and yet he's a good singer, even though he almost destroyed his voice and was under doctors orders not to sing or even talk for months because he did it wrong. There are many examples of singers who aren't trained and are good singers.

seriously
singing takes practice sure some people are naturally better but if you actually put effort into it you can drastically improve your voice i had an hour drive to and from work for five years and i'd practice singing along to albums every day and after a while i just got better and now i've actually gotten compliments on my voice it's still not great but it's so much better
