Why is /mu/ often stereotyped to be more liberal than other boards? What exactly makes us more liberal? Are we just more open-minded?
Conservatives usually have shit taste in music
Liberal userbase. At least we don't have nazi SJW mods deleting everything that goes against their narrative like /co/.

I'd guess that part of it is that, at least in my experience, people who are into the arts tend to be more left-leaning.

More like most of us try to not discuss politics here
I certainly don't want to start

Unless an album is overtly political, there is no room for it to come up.
With the recent debates about diversity in tv, film, video games, and comics people can shitpost about politics anytime they want.
Still, I would guess that overall the board is liberal.

Liberals tend to be more open minded, LSD tends to make people more open minded, musicians/music connesoirs are more likely to take LSD.

This.
I'm just as happy listening to gaycore or gangsta rap as I am a bunch of swedes in nazi outfits.
Music to me is apolitical, but rather an expression of personal art. It doesn't have an agenda or mandate, it comes from the soul. It's pure that way.
The music I listen to, anyways.
