I still wish I could tell you how, but this definitely did. About halfway to 1/3 in the atmosphere has built up really fucking well, and with the song titles and the songs, something just clicked, like there was some kind of underlying story to all the tracks. A few minutes later I started crying.
Still think this is the Soundtracks of the Blind of Vaporwave.

The part with the people dancing under the lamplight make me think of everyone in my family before me who had loved one another, had children, passed, and got me to where I am now.

Felt that I had that with someone, once. Just a love that went on beyond me.

Hurts inside to watch and listen to, still one of my favorite songs.

Those albums are popular here for a reason, anon.
They've become cliche to a certain subset of /mu/ because of how much people like them, but every cliche was once new, and the fact that those albums are popular shouldn't diminish their emotional impact, or make you feel guilty for liking them.

Okay, now you're going to get me to cry. I might as well go all out then.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viVQ1PqYjoM

Whenever I hear this, I just imagine that a loved one of mine is moments from passing away, and I'm trying to comfort them and letting them know just how much they mean to me. Then the perspective shifts to them, as they die, their soul going on that great journey that awaits us all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-ayuRE5xd8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjIWriDTptY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDDrak6Rnwo

These I can't listen to. I heard them soon after I had been told that my grandmother was dying. Being pretty young, I was freaked out and decided to stay home as my parents drove 8 hours to go visit her and attend her funeral. I felt like I made a cowardly choice and I always feel guilty about it. Since then, I've learned to always be there for others, no matter how difficult it may be for me, because it is much more difficult for them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96MiYk9VYvc

This is probably the toughest one and is another I refuse to listen to. I reminds me too much of my childhood. Growing up with a single mother in the military, I moved around a lot as a child. Having your life uprooted like that was jarring at such a young age. Especially having it happen every 2 years. Just as soon as you really feel settled in and truly at home, you're yanked out of your life and dropped off somewhere else. It was torturous. Always feeling like the odd one out. Never feeling like you fit in. Coming home to an empty house every day because my mom was working so hard to support us. It was just pure loneliness. To this day I still have a weird relationship with my parents. It's more like their strangers than parents. I suppose that why I'm drawn to interact with quieter people. I guess it reminds me of my younger self, wishing someone would have done the same for me.

Not to sound edgy or anything, but music has honestly never made me cry or even get emotional. It may also be because I like more "happy" music (like for example soul or hiphop) instead of the depressing music a lot of you listen to.

Something about the themes of religious experience and suffering, along with the absolute despair/resignation in his voice. The lyrics are perfect nonsense that touch on something really ineffable.

Hey Moon by John Maus

First time I heard it (not on World Peace), I was listening through the album while reading a bunch of John Maus interviews. I paused the album after a song to watch an interview by him and his accent was exactly like my own (rural Minnesotan/typical "Fargo" accent) and after reading all his interviews and hearing the accent and what he said, I resumed the album and Hey Moon came on. Something about it hit me like a ton of bricks. Just how it sounds, the things I had read in his interviews about the intent behind his music, the fact he's the only musician I found who sounds just like me, it all came together and made it feel like "home" and I broke down a bit.

The whole album is great but Love Letters From Hell is almost as good, if not better.
I think it hit close to home because I'm pretty sure I've met him before when I was a kid. There is a section of my family with the surname Maus and they live in Austin, MN where he was born. His interest in philosophy is intriguing to me because the way he thinks and speaks is how I speak. A lot of people think he sounds retarded but he has a doctorate in political philosophy, and there's more than a little substance to his music and what he's saying.
The muted/reverberating tones of everything he does hits me hard as well. There's a certain numbness to all of it that's just really powerful to me.

Kaki King - Can Anyone Who Has Heard This Music Really Be A Bad Person?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnLJ2xdnf7k

Stupid music video, but the ending just fucks the shit out of me. It's not even pure sadness, it's just an overwhelming rush of various feelings that gets me.

>inb4 "what a pretentious title"
It's a reference to the German movie The Lives of Others you fucktard, and it complements the song's introvert sound.

I've not had religion in my life since I was a little kid. I miss the feeling I used to have, but it's hard for me to reconcile that with my beliefs about some things. This song is quite the experience.

Uncountable songs have/do make me well up. But I think only The Circle Game by Joni Mitchell will actually make me weep. My mom used to sing it to me all the time when I was a child. Simpler, happier days. It brings me back.

When/if I ever get married, I'll dance with her to it. I'll be a wreck.

its pretty gay, but when i heard this song a week after girlfriend broke up with me i balled like a little baby. What made it worse was that when we were together she liked the song and i made fun of the song for its line about a paycheck for not being very romantic... but i understood it perfectly when i heard it after breaking up

>The Trees Community - Jesus He Knows
This one was kind of a revelation. I had never considered that not only is Jesus all knowing but also all feeling; being aware of the pain of being flesh and the general human experience.

Twice that I can recall.

The latter half of Sissy Spacek's s/t, and Essays on: Frantic Desperation, Annihilation, and From Another Passerby, but only The Paper Chase's songs.

Both of these were several years ago. I've made it a point to eliminate internal traces of conscious feeling since then, having realized how grand a waste of time feeling were.

not gonna lie. 4-5 years ago i was working a shit job full time and also going to school full time and really hating life in general.

one morning i got into my car and as it was warming up, "firework" by katy perry came on. it was the first time i'd ever heard it and by the first chorus i was bawling.

it's the only time music has ever made me cry.

The Radio Dept- This Past Week. That song...
>>
>>68227025
Yeah. It's usually just from the song itself being overwhelming and making me cry in happiness, but also depends on my current situation.

Some of the songs that I can recall are:

My Bloody Valentine - To Here Knows When, Blown A Wish, and probably other songs.

Slowdive - Altogether - The part where they sing "And now seems just a dream" and the little bit of feedback squeal fucked me up hard while taking a walk home after getting into a nasty, unresolved fight with my gf.

Duke Ellington - Tenderly (from the Indigos album) That buildup is overwhelming. Great rendition.

The Beatles - Within You Without You got me a few times.

Spacemen 3 - Lord Can You Hear Me - Listened to this for the first time during another relationship issue, was rough.

I thought this album was so meticulously crafted and well done. One of the few instrumental albums that I felt as if the instruments themselves were speaking to me.
