Where can i listen to new music?

I am sick of taste makers like pitchfork, melon head and Mu deciding wat is hot and wat is not.

Where can I expose myself to more lesser well known new music aside from bandcamp?

THose three you mentioned (at least p4k and melon, mu is just a shithole) cover most of the music being released nowadays that's worthwhile/popular/decent to an extent. So why not just look at what they review without following their opinions? I just listen to new stuff put out by artists I already like and other that's related to it via some connection... idk

I should have ignored you, but for some reason I want to help you.
>>
rate your music is great for that stuff
discogs is fantastic if youre into electronic music or just want to do some label digging
>>
>>68169037
This require that you already know and liked an artist. I am talking about discovering new artists
>>
Develop your taste. Search for similar albums on discogs.
>>
>>68168965
>I hate these tastemakers telling me what to listen to!
>Tell me where to go to listen to music?

You fucking mong. You're no better than P4k fags and you should know it. Fuck off.
>>
>>68169337
But my problemz is I feel like my taste has been corrupted by p4k and melon head
>>
>>68169567
Why? Their thoughts don't change the music itself. If your taste's been "corrupted" by them, it's going to be "corrupted" by anything you turn to. Taste changes, don't think so much about it.
>>
>>68170139
I guess i just wanna find a new avenue to listen to music which major influencers dun have an opinion on yet
>>
>>68169037
>THose three you mentioned (at least p4k and melon, mu is just a shithole) cover most of the music being released nowadays that's worthwhile/popular/decent to an extent.
if we talking about critics, Fact and Wire has far better and wider exposure, you're just pleb that stuck in his comfort zone

for op i recommend to follow labels and use discogs a lot
>>
>>68170187
again, mine discogs, there's quite a robust search engine
>>
>>68170190
Fact and wire? Dp u meam factmag.com? Cause they are covering jay z
>>
I've had a lot of luck searching YouTube.

I'll type in an album I want to listen to, go to related videos, and a few clicks later I'm finding something amazing I previously missed out on.

It's not always effective but people do upload all sorts of shit
>>
>>68169037
>p4k and melon
>cover most of the music being released nowadays that's worthwhile/popular/decent to an extent
lmao holy shit
they don't even scratch the surface
>>
>>68170609
Actually allmusic.com is a mice place that will kewp track on every album release and reissue - which is a lot
>>
>>68168965
Go to live shows.
>>
>>68170655
I dun live in the US so i dun have access to these events
>>
>>68170753
I don't think that matters too much.
>>
>>68170769
In my country it does sadly, even mainstream celebs like beyonce have to abide to my country islamic rules b4 performing.
>>
>>68169321
So you don't know ANY artists? Read how I said that I discover new stuff by other artists that are * linked * somehow with artists I already like.

>>68170190
>>68170609
I don't read p4k or fantano or whatever
i'm mature enough to not have to follow other people's tastes...

and idk why you disagree fantno and p4k cover the most POPULAR releases.
People here need to learn how to read beyond a single line of text. You give them 3 lines and they are lost automatically.

I agree that Wire is interesting because they aren't really tastemakers, they just give opinions and put out interesting articles etc. same with TMT anyways
>>
>>68169037
>(at least p4k and melon, mu is just a shithole) cover most of the music being released nowadays that's worthwhile

all of my what kind of fucking retard actually thinks this

Since this is a hot topic now. I'll help you.

Theres only two reasons you're acting like that:

1) you're an audiophile

wants to consumer alternative options and not-so popular hipster-experimental tier bands and artists to pose as an music elitist paying atenttion to the music value/quality/technique/weirdness over the catchness/melodical rythmic driven trends.

2) you're a producer/musician

wants to differ yourself from the pack of lazy auto fanbase bots and basing your sound original content and sound tendencies on its origin

So apparentely you have to going further deeper searching on Archive.org, foreign specialist music blogs and various outside of RYM recommendationa lists to discover new music.

But pop music or art music or 'world' music?

XD

H T T P : / / G O O G L E . C O M

****

these music filter work.most based on payola pr team rules, theres money and marketing roles they ha e to fit, user base-fan base, they have to balacing the praise on their core ex.: fantano core is more darker experimental, pitvhfork is more indie poppy and pro-black

what your personal core?
>>
>>68168965

go to spotify, listen to the band you like, open the tab for bands like this (or whatever it is) and listen to those.

clear your youtube history, listen to a song you like, type a random letter into the youtube search bar, listen to the first - fifth band that comes up for each letter.

Actually youre wrong on both counts eventhough i own some real expensive headset, dac and tube amp the reason i asked is because i am trying to make my music blog more independent by exposing myself to other music that are not covered by p4k or melon head
>>
>>68168965

FACT Mag
The Quietus
TinyMixTapes
cokemachineglow (defunct)
Gorilla vs Bear
Club Fonograma
>>
>>68173245
most of critics receive new music by the direct contact from the artists via e-mail or record label pr team, you just have to make your blog more popular

Is the album review dead? https://noisey.vice.com/en_us/article/is-the-album-review-dead

Plus
>>68173083

In the whole world there are thousands vive music scenes, you might only listen to a few records of the surface, because they're popular and are benefiting on their record label deals.
>>
>>68168965
Have you considered listening to older music? I'm having a great time listening to 50s-00s + a few 10s stuff.
>>
>>68173320
Thx I am only missing a few from my watch list of competitors, I mean neighbors.

>>68173330
I actually do receive a shit ton of music submission from label and indie artists but the problem is that their fanbase are too small and their music are rarely good. You have no idea how hard its is to review music that is just bland and mediocre.

I've also read up on that article, which I think is great but still irrelevant. People read music reviews for many reasons. So Spotify or some free flow of music is not gonna kill music journalism, in my opinion, it will only boost readership due to more interested music lovers.

>>68173352
Yes I constantly listen to old and new music, I listen to about 3 -5 albums everyday and read up on 10 articles/review from various sites.

My music blog is called soundovermind.com

Before you criticize my writing, I just wanna let you know that I am music lover who just wants to share my love for music
>>
>>68170639
kek for all music but there are just shit ton of reissue I have to shift through
>>
Marcel's Music Journal also these:
