I'm a huge Trainspotting fan, went to the first showing in michigan. Figured if it was half as good, it'd be great. It wasn't even half as good. Complete letdown.
>remember when Renton got hit by a car?
>wannae see him do it again?
It's missing everything that really defined the original. It's like a teenager watched it once and wrote a sequel. This review is exactly on point:

I don't know what all the other reviews saying it's A good follow up are on about. It's just barely worth watching.

I thought it was a good follow up to be honest. I've been a big Irvine Welsh fan for years and T2 pays homage to the Trainspotting book (spud's writing is literally chapters from Trainspotting verbatim) and also it's sequel while shaping out it's own original story line.
I get what you mean when it comes to revisiting scenes from the first film, but I thought that they weren't overused and didn't detract from the film overall.
If you're expecting literally Trainspotting 2 you're going to be dissapointed. The first film was about yout. This one is about middle age.
Question though. Did Americans laugh at the Loyalist pub scene? Up here in Scotlaand the hole cinema was howling. Fucking hilarious

OP here. Yeah, that was actually one of my favorite parts of the film.

But it didn't say much about it. I was expecting a funny but less-energetic and way-more-depressing movie exploring broken relationships. Instead it was run-of-the-mill.
>no bantz
>no poetic scene transitions like jumping off a solid wall from family and friends and landing back in an addict's den
>no themes
>no motifs
>no fucking narration
I mean, it's not a bad movie, but it just sorta spins its wheels and hits standard storyline beats. Thank god the actors are good or it'd be unwatchable.
